ACS administers several large programs on cancer, including the national Breast Cancer Network. This network has online summaries of research projects, including the Woman's Health Initiative.

American Diabetes Association
This is a user-friendly page for patient, caregiver and clinician.  It features links to the newest information, a tip of the day and a recipe of the day.  The Diabetes Risk Test in the Diabetes Prevention section is an especially useful tool.

American Heart Association
AHA now has 900-plus pages on the web. AHA Advisories feature Olestra, Blood Cholesterol, and Stroke. The newsletters of the AHA Scientific Councils are now appearing on the web site. AHA also invites searching on keywords with the Excite search engine. In addition, applications for the AHA National Research Program are now available online.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), located in Atlanta, Georgia, is an agency of the Department of Health and Human Services. Information at this site includes traveler's health; publications; data and statistics, etc.

This site is a wealth of information about the flu and options for combating it.

MEDLINEplus 
Contains health information from the National Library of Medicine and other trusted sources. There are also lists of hospitals and physicians, a medical encyclopedia and a medical dictionary, health information in Spanish, extensive information on prescription and nonprescription drugs, health information from the media, and links to thousands of clinical trials.

National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute
NHLBI has several programs that it uses to bring information to health care professionals, patients, and the public, as well as online access to professional and patient education materials from its programs on cholesterol, obesity, and heart attacks. NHLBI also brings online News Alerts on topics such as Bypass over Angioplasty for Patients with Diabetes and Calcium Channel Blockers.

World's largest biomedical library.

National Stroke Association
Mortality rates for heart disease have been reduced by 49 percent and 58 percent, respectively, over the past 25 years. The principal initiatives have been improved high blood pressure control and high blood cholesterol control. Nevertheless, heart disease and stroke continue to affect more Americans than any other disease.

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
Provides information regarding resource, policy and administration; what's new with the DHHS; news and public affairs, etc.

U.S. Food and Drug Administration
Provides links to sources of information related to foods; biologics; cosmetics; human drugs; children & tobacco, etc.

U.S. Surgeon General's Family History Initiative
It is important for you to share your medical history with family members. Here is a new tool to help you do that. It is provided by the U.S. Department and Human Services. This new tool, called "My Family Health Portrait" can be downloaded for free and installed on your own computer.
