Billy E. Lay, 79 of Hillsboro passed away February 28, 2009 in Hillsboro. Mr. Lay was a laborer for Scott Lee Guttering. He was a member of River of Life Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed gardening, fixing lawn mowers and fishing. Born February 7, 1930, in Clinton, Arkansas; he was the son of the late Bill S. and Lillie (Barker) Lay. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Cole) Lay. Born November 22, 1948 in Grover, Missouri; he was the son of the late John and Dorothy (Tolland) Blakely. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Blakely of DeSoto; one daughter, Amy Blakely of Potosi; two brothers: Robert Blakely of St. Louis and John (Gloria) Blakely of House Springs; and one grandchild. Shirley F. Massie,68 of Desoto passed away February 28, 2009 in DeSoto. Mrs. Massie was a homemaker and enjoyed yard sales and watching wrestling. Born January 4, 1941 in Gideon, Missouri; she was the daughter of the late Clint and Edna (Herrell) Davenport. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Massie. She is survived by four sons: Bobby (Pat) Sweeney of DeSoto, Bill Sweeney of St. Louis, Herb (Mary) Sweeney of DeSoto and Terry (Joyce) Sweeney of St. Louis; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Born December 10, 1949 in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Catherine (Favazza) Finch. She is survived by her finace' John Kilcullen Jr. of Blackwell; a daughter, DeAnna (Craig) Cottrell of O'Fallon, Missouri; a son, Mark Glore of Illinois; and four grandchildren: Jeff, Kevin, Devin and ALisa. Walter V. Gunnet, Sr., 66 of DeSoto passed away February 15, 2009 at his home. Mr. Gunnett was an assembler for Chrysler and a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Valles Mines Worship Center and enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to church. Born October 20, 1942, in DeSoto; he was the son of the late Raymond and Helen T. (Oatman) Gunnett. He is survived by his wife, Shirley J. (Pennock) Gunnett; one son, Walter (Dawn) Gunnett Jr., of DeSoto; five daughters: Laura Gunnett of Bonne Terre, Carrie (Robert) Himes of DeSoto, Dianne (Delroy) Bechtold of St. Joseph, Minnesota, Rachael (John) Darnell of Valles Mines and Wendy (Gary) Allen of Bonne Terre; two brothers: Robert (Brenda) Gunnett of DeSoto and Raymond (Dixie) Gunnett of DeSoto; two sister: Irene (Nate) Meyers of DeSoto and Judy Boxwell of Hematite; and six grandchildren: Coty, Allyssa, Rebeka, Austin, Elijah and Helen. Earl Roy Williamson Sr., 81 of DeSoto passed away on February 10, 2009 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Crystal City. Mr. Williamson was a plant manager for P.V.O. and a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in DeSoto. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy and enjoyed antiques and paintings. Born April 10, 1927, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Melvin and Lillian Williamson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary (Hurst) Williamson. He is survived by two daughters: Pamela (David) Marx of St. Louis and Jennie Oliver of DeSoto; one son, Earl R. Williamson Jr., of St. Louis; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held February 16, at Mahn Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Gene Moses. Burial was in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Vance G. Mayer, 66 of DeSoto passed away February 7, 2009 at his home. Mr. Mayer was a welder for AmerenUE and a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Born January 23, 1943, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Henry J. and Laura L. (Egbert) Mayer. He is survived by his wife, Peggy (Neal) Mayer of DeSoto; three daughters: Yvonne (Timothy) Haddrell of London, England; Susan Tallo of DeSoto and Marilyn (Jim) Sanders of Cadet; two brothers: Brian (Barb) Mayer of High Ridge and Curtis (Cherri) Mayer of St. Louis; two sisters: Pamela (Raymond) Massey of St. Louis and Gayle (Melvin) Stewart of Pleasanton, Texas; four grandchildren: Priscilla (Jimmy), Emily, John Patrick and Matthew Justin; and two great-grandchildren; Jimmy and Gregory. Martha M. Maness, 91, of DeSoto passed away February 9, 2009 at the Villas in DeSoto. Mrs. Maness was a nurse's aid at Regency Nursing Inn. She was a member of Lone Pilgrim Baptist Church and was active with senior citizens groups. She and her husband were well known in DeSoto as the people who closed the gate each day at Walther Park. Born January 5, 1918, in Milan, Tennessee; she was the daughter of the late Reuel A. and Willie (McMinn) Barger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loice V. Maness. She is survived by five sons: James (Helen) Maness of DeSoto, David (Elizabeth) Maness of Louisiana, Vergel (Eileen) Maness of Richmond, Virginia, Joseph Maness of St. Louis and Samuel (Kari) Maness of Colorado; one daughter, Elizabeth (Bobby) Kendrich of Hereford, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 29-great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, John Franklin Maness; one brother, Amos Barger; one sister, Juanita Copeland; and one nephew, Reuel McMinn. Null, 54, of DeSoto passed away at his home.  Mr. Null was a security guard for Dow Chemical.  He enjoyed fishing and Cardinal baseball.  Born April 30, 1954 in DeSoto, he was the son of the late Russell N and Pearl R. (Sansoucie) Null. He is survived by one sister, Nancy R. (Kenneth) Christopher of DeSoto; and two brothers: Floyd (Pamela) Null of DeSoto and LeRoy (Michele) Null of Aviston, Illinois. Robert A. "Bob" Enzenauer, 66 of DeSoto passed away on February 13, 2009 in DeSoto. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and telling jokes. Born September 6, 1942 in St. Louis; he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Sadie M. (Oberkfell) Enzenauer. He is survived by his wife, Cathy (Rannenberg) Enzenauer of Desoto; one son, Andy (Andres) Enzenauer of Arnaudville, Louisianna; one daughter, Emily (Richard) Scott of St. Louis; one brother, Richard Enzenauer of St. Louis; one sister, Anna Maly of Maplewood; one brother-in-law, Orlando Rannenber of Bowling Green, Kentucky; and three grandchildren: Richard Benjamin, Nathaniel and Leah. He was preceded in death by one sister, Sharon Enzenauer. Memorial services are scheduled for 2 P.M. on Sunday, February 22 at Mahn Funeral Home in DeSoto. Murrell J. Boyer, 72, of DeSoto passed away February 14, 2009 at his home. Mr. Boyer was a plant manager for Haake Manufacturing. He served in the National Guard and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and the Hardee's Boys Bible study group. Born June 15, 1936 in Blackwell; he was the son of the late Stephen C. and Fannie S. (Durbin) Boyer. He is survived by his wife, Shirley M. (Boyer) Boyer of DeSoto; three sons: Murrell James Boyer of Warrenton, Darren (Theresa) Boyer of Hillsboro and Rodney Boyer of DeSoto; two daughters: Darla (Clyde) Counts of High Ridge and Angela Mary (Tony) Roth of DeSoto; one brother, Mark (Debbie) Boyer of DeSoto; two sisters: Marilyn (Gordon) Redfield of DeSoto and Judith (Dale) Childress of Sullivan; one sister-in-law, Norma Boyer of DeSoto; 13 grandchildren: Amy, Chuck, Jennifer, Shirley, Carrie, Jackie, Dustin, Tiffany, Stephanie, Kristi, Adam, Aubrie and Tristan; and eight great-grandchildren: Joey, Kaitlyn, Jacob, Jayden, Brenden, Carson, Carter and Paitan. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Stephen Lee Boyer and Lindell Martin Boyer. Funeral services were to be held February 18 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, officiated by Monsignor Jerome Buchheit. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Tiff.
