Wideman, 89, DeSoto, passed away January 8, 2009 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Crystal City.  Mr. Wideman was a self-employed carpenter.  He enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing.  Born July 5, 1919 in DeSoto, he was the son of the late Robert and Valle (Bourbon) Wideman.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie (Sansoucie) Wideman. He is survived by one sister, Dorothy Singer of Tuscon, Arizona.  He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Funeral services were held January 10 at Mahn Funeral Home in DeSoto, officiated by the Rev. Jim Owens.  Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in DeSoto.  Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.  Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home in DeSoto.

Edward R. "Dick" Boyer, 53, DeSoto passed away on January 12, 2009 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.  Mr. Boyer was an assembler with Chrysler, a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, and a fourth-degree Knight of Columbus.  Born August 8, 1955 in Granite City, Illinois, he was the son of the late Sylvester "Buck" and Betty (Craig) Boyer. He is survived by his wife, Beverly (Weir) Boyer of DeSoto; two sons: Scott (Julie) Boyer of DeSoto and Nick (Shalen) Boyer of Dittmer; two brothers: Jeffrey (Peggy) Boyer of Union and Glennon (Debbie) Boyer of DeSoto; three sisters: Mary (David) Boley of Fletcher, Janet (Jim) Juliette of DeSoto and Sarah (Douglas) Little of Festus; and three grandchildren: Thomas, Daryk and Brandon. Funeral services were held January 17, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, officiated by the Rev. Alex Anderson.  Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery in DeSoto.  Memorials may be made to Adopt an Angel at St. Rose of Lima Catholic School.  Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home in DeSoto.

Dorothy Mae Vaughn, 82, DeSoto passed away January 26, 2009 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Crystal City.  She was a co-owner to the Vaughn grocery market in Florissant.  She was born February 28, 1926 in St. Louis; the daughter of the late John and Ola (Frederick) Shomaker.  She was preceded in death by her husband Jack W. Vaughn. She is survived by 2 daughters: Dorcas Pfiffer and Daphney Stacey both of St. Louis; and a brother Marcin Shomaker of VanBuran. Burial was in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.

Ruby Lee Holderfield, 88 of Barnhart, passed away January 29, 2009 at Hillcrest Nursing Center in DeSoto.  She was a shoe worker in St. Louis.  Born January 26, 1921 in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late George and Mabel (Gibler) Croft. She was preceded in death by her husband Toby Valgean Holderfield. She is survived by a son Russ Holderfield of Barnhart, 3 grandchildren: Tami Hones, Sami Jones and Kenneth Schiefhoff all of Florida; and a brother George (Margie) Croft in St. Louis. Born September 24, 1919, in Portsmouth, England, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Margery (Bailey) Holt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Geoffrey Jones-Thomas. She is survived by one daughter, Susan (Jack) Burgess of St. Louis; six grandchildren: and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, David Jones-Thomas; and two brothers: Brian Holt and Peter Holt. Funeral services and burial was private.
