Wayne Louis Monia, 52, of Bloomsdale, MO entered into rest July 6, 2009 at Jefferson Regional Medical Ctr, Crystal City, MO. He was employed as director of maintenace at Windsor School District. Born Feb 20, 1957, in Perryville, MO, to Mary Ann (Boyer) Monia of Bloomsdale, MO and the late August Monia. He is survived by his wife, Pamela (Bruckner) Monia and sons;Bill Monia and Drew Monia, both of  Bloomsdale, MO. Services were Wed, July 8, 2009 at Mahn Twin City Chapel, Festus. Elmer C. Mattingly, 83, of Festus entered into rest July 5, 2009 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St Louis. He had previously been employed as a truck driver for Yellow Transit and was a US Navy veteran. Born May 30, 1926, in St Marys, MO, tothe late Firman & Stella (Gibbar) Mattingly. He is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (Peter) Mattingly. He is survived by 2 daughters; Joyce (James) Lee, St Charles and Deborah Lemons of DeSoto; and 4 sisters. Mass was Fri, July 10, 2009 at Our Lady Catholic Church, Festus. Edward J. Brand, 94, of Festus entered into rest July 19, 2009 at Festus Manor Nursing Ctr, Festus. He was a self-employed general contractor who did restoration work of fine buildings in St Louis. He was a WWII US Army veteran. Born Sept 14, 1914, in St Louis, MO, to the late Valentine & Louisa (Underbergh) Brand. He is preceded in death by his wife, Wilma (Barber) Brand. He is survived by son, E. Jay (Christie) Brand, Bethalto, IL; and daughters: Janet ( John) Gore, McKinney, TX, Shirlene (Douglas) Arnold, Brighton, IL and Marcia (John) Fair) of Columbia, S.C. She is preceded in death by her husband, James L. Stinnett, Sr. She is survived by son, James L. Stinnett, Jr of St Louis; and 2 sisters. Memorial service was held Sat, Aug 1, 2009 at Grace Presbyterian Church, Crystal City, MO. Her cremains will be interred at Little Vine Cemetery, Fredericktown, MO. Geneverett Taylor, 95, of DeSoto passed away July 8, 2009 at Hillcrest Nursing Center.  Mrs. Taylor was a homemaker and a member of DeSoto Faith Assembly. Born August 1, 1913 in Sesser, Illinois; she was the daughter of the late Daniel E and Nella L. (Lance) Dorrough.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence O. Taylor. She is survived by two daughters: Marcella (Roy) Welshon of DeSoto and Jean (Jesse) Hoyt of DeSoto; one son, David (Karen) Taylor of Cedar Hill; one brother, Donald (Barbara) Dorrough of Green River, Wyoming; 16 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one son, Marvin Taylor; two brothers: Melvin Dorrough and Alvie Dorrough; and three sisters: Altha Rae, Irene Browning and Alene Sandusky. Funeral services were held July 11 at Mahn Funeral Home, Officiated by the Rev. David Taylor.  Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery in Sesser, Illinois.  Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.  Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home in DeSoto.

Lester Niehaus, 89, of DeSoto passed away July 17, 2009 at the Villas.  Mr. Niehaus was a carpenter and a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Florissant.  He enjoyed gardening.  Born April 26, 1920 in Black Jack, Missouri; he was the son of the late Herman H. and Sophie (Kruger) Niehaus. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Pearl (Foushee) Niehaus of DeSoto; one son, David (Carol) Niehaus of Kansas City; one brother, Lawrence (Louise) Niehaus of Florissant; one daughter, Laura Wilson of Hillsboro; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by two sisters: Aldine Mueller and Selma Niehaus; and one brother, Clarence Niehaus. Visitation was at 10a.m. and funeral services held at 11a.m. on July 23, 2009 at Mahn Funeral Home, DeSoto Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Gene Moses.  Burial is in Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Florissant.  Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home in DeSoto.

Nelda Rae Politte, 91, of DeSoto passed away July 19, 2009 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Crystal City.  Mrs. Politte was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and the Columbia Anns.  Born Gebruary 16, 1918 in Grayville, Illinois; she was the daughter of the late George H and Clara (Marks) Dawson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Politte. She is survived by two sons: Joseph Ronald (Cindy) Politte of DeSoto and Stephen Wayne Politte of DeSoto; one daughter, Debra Ann (Jerry) Ward of Rives; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild and one great-great-grandchild.  She was also preceded in death by four brothers: George Dawson, Daniel Dawson, Hal Dawson and an infant; and three sisters: Thelma Loveless, Opal Menninger and Eileen Deering. Funeral Mass is schedule for 10a.m. July 23, 2009 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, officiated by the Rev. Alex Anderson.  Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in DeSoto. Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home in DeSoto.

Keith Allen Harris, 45, of Lutz, Florida, (formerly of DeSoto), passed away July 17, 2009, in Temple Terrace, Florida.  Mr. Harris was a control analyst in the mortgage department of HSBC.  He was a graduate of DeSoto High School and Jefferson College  and was a member of the Junior Achievement Center through HSBC>  Born June 22, 1964 in Crystal City, he was the son of Carl and Joyce (Sampson) Harris of DeSoto. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his partner, Rick Gaus of Lutz, Florida; one sister, Dawn (Steve) Willcutt of Richwoods; two brothers: Troy (Carolann) Harris of Bonne Terre and Todd (Rebecca) Harris of Fenton; three nieces: Brittany Harris, Mekayla Harris and Kaitlin Willcutt; a nephew, Dylan Mueller; special Aunt Jan and Uncle John Whitter; special cousins Tina Rolens and Sherry Marler; and a number of other aunts, uncles and cousins. Lillian Dorothy Tretter, 86, of DeSoto passed away July 23, 2009 in DeSoto.  Mrs, Tretter was a homemaker.  Born Nov 22, 1922, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late John and Mae (Crouch) Gunsaulus. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Herbert Tretter of DeSoto; four sons: Herbert (Barbara) Tretter Jr. of Houston, Texas; John (Barbara) Tretter of Fenton, Tom (Deborah) Tretter of DeSoto and Bill (Judy) Tretter of St. Louis; one daughter, Pat Brewer of Thayer; twelve grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by two sisters: Virginia Ruedlinger and Alice Gunsaulus; and one grandson, Jake Brewer. Walter J. "Wally" Reando, Jr., 85 of DeSoto passed away July 28, 2009, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Crystal City.  Mr. Reando was a truck driver for Maclay Ready Mix.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of VFW Post 1831, Amvets Post 48 and Elks Lodge 689, all in DeSoto.  Born July 29, 1923, in St. Charles, he was the son of the late Walter J. and Mary R. (Catlett)  Reando.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Monica (Portell) Reando. He is survived by four sons:  Stephan (Susan) Reando of Iowa, George Robart of St. Louis, Donald (Dina) Lucas of Arnold and John (Annett) Black of Iowa; two daughters: Leslie Jane (Charles) Mackin of Iowa and Ronda (Rick) Osia of DeSoto; four brothers: Anthony "Tony" (Loretta) Reando of South Dakota, Marion Reando of DeSoto, Pete Reando of DeSoto and Donald (Shirley) Reando of DeSoto; one sister, Rose (Ray) Trembley of California; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Savannah M. Evans, 70, of Urbana, Illinois, formerly of DeSoto, passed away July 31, 2009 in Champaign, Illinois.  Ms. Evans was a nurse's aid and a member of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.  She enjoyed playing bingo,and cards, working puzzle books and country music.  Born March 4, 1939 in DeSoto, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Elese (Kelly) Evans. She is survived by three daughters: Leslie Evans of St. Louis, Lorna Evans of St. Louis and Laura (Jeffery) Parks of Urbana, Illinois; one brother, Charles (Lorna) Evans of the Philipine Islands; two sisters: Odessa (Obadiah) Henderson of DeSoto and Lyla Hinkle of St. Louis one sister-in-law, Bertha Logan of DeSoto; one brother-in-law, Marshall Stewart of DeSoto; seven granchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Bryant "Peanut" Evans; four brothers: Glendell Logan, Paul Evans, John Kelly and Albert Kelly; and four sisters: Gertrude Kelly, Ethel Stewart, Georgia "Lee" Flemmings and Rosa Lee Kelly.
