William F. Prosser, Sr., DeSoto, passed away at Jefferson Regional Medical Center on November 1, 2009 at the age of 69 years, 14 days.  Born October 18, 1940 in St. Louis; he was the son of the late John P. and Helen (Fullington) Prosser, II.  Mr. Prosser was a pattern -rigger for Bodine Aluminum. William loved his family and  enjoyed riding his motorcycle.  He was preceded in death by wife, Carol Sue (Jones) Prosser.  Mr. Prosser is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Wilma (Brewer) Prosser of DeSoto. Mr. Prosser  is also survived by six sons: William (Pam) Prosser, Jr. of Barnhart, Jeff Prosser, Chesterfield, Jim (Johnna) Prosser of Arkansas, David (Emily) Prosser of DeSoto, Melvin (Denise) Lay, Jr. of Arkansas, and Jimmy (Lisa) Lay, Texas; and six daughters:  Cindi Fisk of Affton, Debbie Bequette of DeSoto, Terry (Tim) Glore of Festus, Linda (Glen) Dunn of Herculaneum, and Jeanne Stoll, festus and Dawn (Russell) McKenzie of Texas; and a sister, Jill Prosser of St. Louis; forty-one grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren.  Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Thomas Michael Prosser, John Phillip Prosser, III, and Jack Prosser. Funeral services were held Thursday, November 5, 2009 with burial at Peaceful Ridge Cemetery.  Rev. Bob Thebeau officiated the funeral ceremony.  Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home in DeSoto.

Marie Taylor, DeSoto, passed away on November 2, 2009 at her home , at the age of 94 years and 2 days.  Born October 31, 1914 in DeSoto; she was the daughter of the John  and Rosalia (Hasse) Ponzar.  Marie was preceded in death by her loving husband Gerald E. "Jerry" Taylor. Mrs. Taylor is survived by seven nieces and nephews: Richard (Mary) Fisher of DeSoto, Roseann (Gary) Sanders of Overland Park, Kansas, Ronald (Kathy) Ponzar of Hampton, Virginia, Joan (Jerry) Hall of San Francisco, California, Carl Dickerman, Arnold, Wendel (Betty) Dickerman, Cedar Hill and Tom (Ellen) Dickerman of Cold Water, Missouri and many great-nieces and great- nephews. Along with her husband and parents she was also preceded in death by a brother, Walter (Alice) Ponzar and sister, Ann (William) Fisher. Funeral ceremony was held at 1:00p.m. , Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Mahn Funeral Home, DeSoto Chapel with Rev. Greg McCord officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Attn:   Hospice, PO Box 350, Crystal City, MO 63019.  Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home in DeSoto.

 Ronald English, DeSoto, passed away on November 5, 2009 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center at the age of 67 years, 1 month and 7 days.  Born September 29, 1942 in St. Louis; he was the son of Lester Paul and Angela (Valendy) English Sr.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol (Merriman) English.   Ronald was a retired painter for Chrysler Corporation.  He was a member of the Lions Club  and the Imperial Car Club.  He collected classic cars. Mr. English is survived by his loving  wife of 18 years, Judith Anne "Judy" (Hummel) English; a son, Ronald David, (Angela "Angie") English, Hillsboro; three daughters: Rebecca Lynn Curtis, Bonne Terre, Robin Renae (Stacy) Medley, DeSoto, and Ronda Carol (Joe) Carque, Sedgewickville; two brothers Eugene English, Laveen Arizona and Larry (Sandy) English, Auxvasse; two sisters: Joyce Lee Burris, Festus, and Linda Kay Swayze, St. Louis; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Jacquelyn Hummel, St. Louis and a sister-in-law, Janice Morrissey.   He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Lester Paul English, Jr. and Frank English and a brother-in-law, Jack Burris. Funeral ceremony was held Saturday, November 7, 2009 with burial at Sandy BNaptist Cemetery, Hillsboro.  Father Joe Wormack officiated the service.  Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel, Festus.

Ruby "Elaine" (Nail) Deal, 59, of Festus, MO entered into rest Nov 7, 2009 in Festus, MO. Born March 18, 1950, in Cape Girardeau, MO, to the late Robert & Wanda (Brown) Nail. She is survived by husband, Robert Deal; sons: David (Tina) Summers of Washington, MO, Clayton Deal of Festus,MO, Matt Deal of Crystal City, MO; daughters: Andi (Tracy) Carrow of DeSoto, MO, Rhonda (Jeremy) Heath of Hillsboro, MO, Christina Deal of Festus, MO and Julie Deal of Booneville, MO; brother, Ralph (Debbie) Nail; and sister, Donna (Mike) Desnoyer; and 20 grandchildren. Funeral service was Thurs, Nov 12, 2009 at Mahn Twin City Chapel, Festus, MO. Burial was in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

Born April 10, 1967, in Festus, MO, to Daniel W. and Betty (McDonald) Kent, Sr of Festus, MO. Survived by wife, Christina (Uding) Kent; son, Daniel Kent III; brother, Howard (Eldonna) Kent of Festus, MO; sister, Sherry (Matt) Smith of Festus, MO. Ethel Marie (Edwards) Strupp, 72, of Festus, MO entered into rest Nov 13, 2009 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Born Dec 20, 1936 in Haiti, MO. She was a retired machine operator at Tempset Co. Survived by husband, Ronald Strupp; son, Ralph Wetzel; stepsons: Erich (Jan) Wetzel and Michael (Kimberly) Strupp; daughters: Regina (Lester) Brinkley, Elizabaeth (Donald) Atkisson, Cinthia ( Thomas) Cella, Rebecca Wetzel; stepdaughters: Cynthia (Mark) Robic and Ronay (Sam) Rodgers; 18 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.Funeral service was Tues, Nov 17, 2009 at Mahn Twin City Chapel. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Affton, MO

Muriel Butler, 91, of DeSoto passed away November 15, 2009 at The Villa's Nursing Home.  Mrs. Butler was a homemaker and a member of St. Rose of Lima Church.  Born in 1918 in Qulin, she was the daughter of the late Everett and Rosa (Barker) Pierce.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert I. Butler. She is survived by four sons;  Edward (Phyllis) Butler of DeSoto, Albert Butler, Jr. of Valmeyer, Illinois, James Butler of St. Clair and Kevin Butler of Charleston; one daughter, Teresa (Michael) Jalcut of Santa Cruz, California; one sister, Clara Vancil of Poplar Bluff; a brother, Carl Pierce; and a sister, Vernice Pierce. Visitation is from 5-8pm November 19, at Mahn Funeral Home DeSoto.  Funeral services were scheduled for 11:00a.m. Friday, November 20, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, officiated by the Fr.  Alexander Anderson.  Burial was in the Shepherd Hills Cemetery in Barnhart.  Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 1653, Topeka, KS 66601-1653.  Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home, DeSoto.

Laura Renee Smith, 36, of Festus entered into rest Fri, Nov 20, 2009 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Crystal City, MO. Born Feb 9, 1973, in Millington, TN, to Terry Smith of Festus and the late Jane (Hickam) Smith. In addition to her father she is survived by daughter, Keirstin Radtke of Festus; sisters: Vivian (Tony) Regna of Festus, Judy Smith of DeSoto, Jill (Ashel) Roberts of Fredricktown and Whitney King of Fredricktown. Memorial service was Wed, Nov 25, 2009 at Mahn Twin City Chapel, Festus. Burial was in Old Goshen Cemetery, Oak Ridge, MO

Francis Leroy Davis, 74, of DeSoto passed away November 20, 2009 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Crystal City.  Mr. Davis was a truck driver for T.C.T.   He was a member of DeSoto Elks 869, DeSoto AmVets Post #48, and a life member of DeSoto VFW Post # 1831.  He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, with service in the Korean War and a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Born September 23, 1935 in Blackwell, he was the son of the late James L. and Ethel (Coleman) Davis. He is survived by his wife, Leola (Valle) Davis of DeSoto; four daughters: Donna (Jim) Smith of Festus, Angie (Wes) James of Fenton, Sandy (Kevin) Thornton of Festus and Pam (Gary) Ledbetter of Festus; two brothers: Pat (MaryLee) Davis and Jim (Silvia) Davis, both of DeSoto; four sisters: Jeanette (Glen) Guenther of Richwoods, Joan (Danny) Brown of Bonne Terre, Becky Pruitte of Blackwell and Cheryl (Ed) Belt of Old Mines; seven grandchildren: Jessica, Amanda, Nicole, Sydney, Nick, John and Leighan, and three great-grandchildren: Darius, Haley and Lucas. He was preceded in death by one son, Donald "D.J." Davis; two brothers: Sam Davis and Dennis Davis and one sister, Beverly Kitchell. Funeral services were held November 24 at Mahn Funeral Home in DeSoto, officiated by Deacon Ed Boyer.  Burial was in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans, Memorial Protrams, P.O. Box 1430, Cincinnati, Ohio 4250-0301. Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home in DeSoto.

Joseph "Joe" Katz, 69, of DeSoto passed away November 20, 2009 at his home.  Mr. Katz was a driver and set-up man for Wilbert Vault Company.  He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed NASCAR and the outdoors. Born April 14, 1940 in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Joseph Katz and the late June (Vogt) Bowman. He is survived by his companion of 18 years, Kathy (Osia) Kneip of DeSoto; extended family: Jennifer (Ken Dean) Osia, Kim (Mike) Bundy, and three grandchildren: Desi, Andrew and Abigail; one son, Steven (Lisa) Katz of DeSoto; two daughters: Lisa (Jon) Schneedle and Susan (Glenn) Lawson, both of DeSoto; three brothers: Jerry Jessup of Herculaneum, James Becker of Bonne Terre and Joel Bowman of Sullivan; two sisters: Judy Carston of DeSoto and Jackie Elsey of Valles Mines. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Katz. Funeral services were set for November 25 at Mahn Funeral Home, DeSoto Chapel, officiated by Deacon Ed Boyer, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to fight muscular dystrophy.  Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home in DeSoto.

Alfred Rhiner, 86, of Olympian Village passed away November 19, 2009 at his home. Mr. Rhiner was born June 12, 1923 in Eagle Grove, Iowa, the son of the late William F and Lillian (Watkinson) Rhiner. He was a veteran of World War II; a 58-year member of Boilermakers Local 27; a past master of Masonic Lodge 338 and past worthy patron of Eastern Star 325, both of Herculaneum; a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of the DeSoto area; belonged to VFW 8042 at Evening Shade, Arkansas; was a 32nd-degree Mason and a lifetime member of the Scottish Rite of St. Louis and a past member of the Shriners and the York Rite. He is survived by Bessie Goodman Rhiner, his wife of 20 years, of Olympian Village; a daughter, Mary Rhiner of Boss; a son, James (Tammy) Rhiner of Arnold; three step-sons, Joseph (Anna) Goodman of Pevely, John Goodman of Wisconsin and Tim (Kathy) Goodman of Festus; a step-daughter, Karen Mills of Festus; a brother, Billy Eugene Rhiner of Commerce City, Colorado; a granddaughter, Melissa (Christopher) Brown of Crystal City; two great-grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; and a niece, Doris (Louis) Judice of Louisiana. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 44 years, Edna Faye (Fletcher) Rhiner, and four sisters, Wilma, Arba, Isabell and Dorothy. Funeral services were held November 22, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, officiated by Brother Rich Grayson.  A graveside service was held November 23 in Sharp County Cemetery in Evening Shade, Arkansas. Jack Lee Emerson, 75,of Herculaneum, MO entered into rest Nov 30, 2009 at St Francis Medical Center, Cape Girardeau, MO. He was retired from General Motors Corp and was a US Army veteran who had served in the Korean War. He is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy (Detweiler) Emerson; parents: Jack & Mildred (Williams) Emerson. Survived by son, Ken (Jill) Emerson and daughter, Jennifer Emerson. Funeral service was Thurs, Dec 3, 2009 at Mahn Twin City Chapel, Festus, MO. Burial was at JB National Cemetery.
