Miller, age 88 passed away Friday, April 2, 2010 at Crystal Oaks Nursing Center in Crystal City, Missouri.  She was born April 17, 1921 in Festus, Missouri the daughter of the late Edith (nee Wagner) and Lilburn Vineyard. She is survived by a daughter, Diana (Terry) Young of Arnold, Missouri and son Gary Miller of Arnold, brothers Dale (Mary Lou) Vineyard of Festus and Bob Vineyard of St. Louis, Missouri, grandchildren Lori (Robert) Harry, Lisa (Joe) Treat, Julie ( Clarence) Schoen and 8 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by brothers, Clifford (the late Norma) Vineyard, Wyman (Betty survives) Vineyard, sisters Wanda (the late Amos) Geiler, and Thelma (the late Eugene) McCreary. She was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church of Arnold. Richard P. Brouk, age 51 of De Soto, Missouri, passed away April 3, 2010 at his residence in De Soto, Missouri. He was a striper for Missouri Department of Transportation. Born September 7, 1958 in St. Louis, Missouri, he was the son of the late Irvin Walter and Helen Amelia (nee Jennemann) Brouk. Helen M. (Theil) Mueller, 89, of DeSoto passed away on April 4, 2010 in Crystal City. Born April 26, 1920, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Emil and Elizabeth (nee Woppel) Theil. Her husband, Roscoe P. Mueller preceded her in death. Mrs. Mueller was co-owner of Mueller Motors for 33 years. She was a member of The Eastern Star and lifetime member of Hope United Church of Christ; she loved traveling, playing pinochle and bowling. Dear mother of David (Joyce) Mueller of DeSoto and Glenn (Shirley) Mueller of Owensville, MO; dear sister of Walter Theil and Fred Theil; beloved grandmother of Gary, Tracy, William, John and Carla; dear great-grandmother of Alison, Madeline, Sylvia, Issac, Lillyan, Cody, Destiny and Cheyenne. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Mueller and a sister, Rosemary Neesen. Pastor Sharon Maddox will be officiating the funeral service. Shirley L. Mc Daniel, 80,of DeSoto, passed away on April 7, 2010 in DeSoto. Shirley was born February 20, 1930 in St. Louis; she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Mildred (VanHook) Klein. She was preceded in death by her husbands: Leon Mc Daniel and Gilbert Neal. Shirley was a cosmetologist in St. Louis. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and sewing. Mrs. Mc Daniel was the dear mother of Edwin (Lois) Neal of Arkansas and Linda Howard of DeSoto; dear sister of Jake VanHook, Florida and La Vern Mosier, Arkansas; dear grandmother of numerous grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents and two sons: Gilbert A. Neal and Daniel R. Neal; two brothers: Charles Klein and Edwin Klein. Rev. Gene Moses will be officiating the funeral service.

Karen J. Yesberg, 71, of St Louis (formerly of Festus), passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Kindred Hospital in St Louis. She was a retired communication dispatcher for the St Louis County Police Department. She loved reading, the outdoors, music, cooking and most of all loved her family. She was born January 27, 1939, in Festus, Missouri to the late William C. and Marie L. (Escoffier) Yesberg. She is survived by her sons: William D. Barnett of St Louis, MO and John A. (Kathleen) Barnett of Macon, GA, daughter: Mary L. Kimes of Hematite, MO, brother: William J. (Priscilla) Yesberg of Gaffney, SC, sister: Jane Yesberg of Festus,  grandchildren: Sarah, James, Erin, Forrest, Julie, Crystal, Dana, Joshua and the late Kelli,  great grandchildren: Mariah, James, Trenton, Devin, Faith, Chloe and Zoey and several nieces and nephews. Visitation was held Monday, April 12, 2010 from 10:00am-1:00pm with service at 1;00pm. Interment in Shepherd Hills Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Multiple Sclerosis Society or Vitas Hospice.

Born December 3, 1927 in Cedar Hill, Missouri, she was the daughter of the Edward and Verona (nee Radeackar) Crawford. She is survived by her husband Theodore “Ted” Hurtgen, Jr. Hillsboro, Missouri, one daughter: Carolyn (Jeff) King, Tulsa, Oklahoma and one son: Bill (Sabrina) Hurtgen, Hillsboro, Missouri; Grandchildren:  Christopher (Katie) King, Jennifer (Curtis) Wiederholt, and Ryan, Carissa, and Kyle Hurtgen ; Great-Grandchildren: Ethan, Owen, Hailey, and Andrew King; Jackson, Benjamin, and Luke Wiederholt. Mary Louise Kettler-Taylor, 39, of Festus, passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker and was proud of her Native American/Oglala-Sioux ancestry. She was born October 10, 1970, in Denver, Colorado to Paul Kettler of House Springs, MO and the late Phyllis (Blackbird) Michaelree. In addition to her father,she is survived by sons: Samuel Taylor of Hillsboro and Cole Taylor of Hillsboro, daughters: Rose Taylor of Hillsboro and Rachael Benns of Festus, brother: Thomas (Lisa) Kettler of Idaho Falls, Idaho, sisters: Cheryl Kettler of Overland, MO, Stephanie Kettler of St Louis, MO and Kathleen (David) Dunkus of Pevely, MO. Christopher Mathew Nugent, age 16, of Festus, Missouri passed away Friday, April 9, 2010 in Festus.  He was born May 7, 1993 in Festus the son of Tina (nee Litton) and Louis Jene Nugent, Jr. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Curtis Anthony Nugent of Festus, grandfather, Thomas (the late Linda) Litton, aunts, Terrie (Gary Sides) White, Christi (Robert) Obando, uncles Thomas Litton, Brian (Tina) Nugent, Mike White, cousins Courtney White, Nick White, Nathaniel Nugent and many friends.  He is preceded in death by grandfather Louis (Sharon survives) Nugent. He was a student at Festus High School where he was a member of the Outdoors Club, Winter Guard and Drama Club and a member of First United Methodist Church in Festus. Howard F. Beller, age 92, of House Springs Missouri, passed away of April 10, 2010, in House Springs Missouri. He was born March 24, 1918 in Mitchell South Dakota. He was an Army veteran and served in India during WW II. Howard was a life time member of the VFW,  was a member of the Amvets and Moose Lodge. He is survived by, Son-Bob (wife Nancy) Beller , of House Springs Missouri, Son-Donald (wife Cindy) Beller of Sterling Heights Michigan. Also survived by, Six, grandchildren and three, great grandchildren. Elmer Earl Smith, age 90, of Festus, Missouri passed away Sunday, April 11, 2010 at St. Louis University Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri.  He was born March 2, 1920 in North Salem, Missouri the son of the late Myrtle Minnie (nee Coffman) and Rollo H. Smith. He is survived by a son Gary L. Smith of Acworth, Georgia, a daughter Karen R. (Ken) Holmes of Frisco, Texas, two sisters Helen Burns of Brookfield, Missouri, Elaine Hupp of Independence, Missouri, grandchildren Nathaniel Smith, Teresa Smith, Samuel Smith and special friend Carol Klein. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Mable Merle (nee Sample) Smith. He began his teaching career in Jameson, Missouri in 1940, served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1946 and taught High School Science in the Crystal City School System for 50 years.  He was a member of MSTA, NEA and the American Legion. Andrew Christian Carstens, age 76, of Festus, Missouri passed away Monday, April 12, 2010 at Festus Manor Nursing Center, Festus.  He was born September 16, 1933 in Crystal City, Missouri the son of the late Iris (nee Wentzel) and Frank Carstens. He is survived by his wife Jeanette (nee Warner) Carstens of Festus, sister Alice (the late Charles) Martin of Festus, numerous nieces and nephews and special friend Bob Bleche. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a half-brother Harold Keller. He served in the United States Army, was a plumber in the commercial construction industry, a member of American Legion Post #253, Plattin Rock Boat Club, Jefferson R-7 Fire Department and a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church of DeSoto, Missouri. Loretta Mulford, 77, of Festus, passed away on Monday, April 12, 2010 at Festus Manor Nursing Center. She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse who spent most of her career at St Johns Hospital in Springfield, MO. She was a member of the Nondenominational Christian Fellowship and was an avid reader and loved fishing, the outdoors, music and working with people. She was born May 23, 1932 in Valentine, Nebraska to the late William E. and Lula K. (Davis) Berry. She is survived by her sons: Anthony S. (Karen) Mulford of Virginia Beach, VA and Berry L. (Jessie) Mulford of Del Rio, TX, daughter: Sharon A. Mulford of Valentine, NE, 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Memorial service to be held Saturday, April 24 at 10:00am at Festus Manor Nursing Center. Interment private. Memorials may be made to Festus Manor Nursing Center.

He was born August 31, 1969 in St. Louis; he was the son of Connie (McMinn)Politte of DeSoto and Francis Ritrovato,Sr. of Festus. He is survived by his fiancee, Barb Thomas of Arnold and Step-Mother, Tina Ritrovato of Festus.  Frank was a bail bondsman; a co-owner of F & N Bail Bonds of Festus. He loved his family and his job. He was a people person and a good friend.
In addition to his parents and fiancee, he is survived by sons: Andrew Ritrovato of Festus, Anthony Ritrovato of Arnold, Tyler (Kaitlin) Thomas of House Springs, and Cameron (Sam) Thomas of Fenton; and daughters: Amber Ritrovato of Arnold and Cassie Thomas of House Springs; two brothers: Joe (Chaz) Ritrovato of Imperial, Jeff (Asja) Ritrovato of Festus; two sisters: Dawn Hanes of DeSoto and Heather Hanes of DeSoto; two grandchildren: Brendon and Kailee; two step-fathers: Gerrial Stone of DeSoto and Pat Hanes of Nevada. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Politte and a Step-father, Richard Politte.  Deacon Ed Boyer  officiated the funeral service on Saturday, April 17, 2010 under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home DeSoto Chapel.  Donations may be made to his children.

Hilary Gerard “Bud” Boyer, age 92 of Festus, Missouri passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Baisch Nursing Center, DeSoto, Missouri.  He was born August 22, 1917 in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri the son of the late Alma Genevieve (nee Ehler) and Hilary Joseph Boyer. He is survived by sons Kenneth (Kathryn) Boyer and Lanny J. Boyer both of Festus, grandchildren Adrian Douglas Boyer, Lanny G. Boyer, Peter A. (Jessica) Boyer and Noah Boyer. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Norburn E. (nee Boyer) Boyer, brother Lyle J. “Jody” (the late Nedda) Boyer, sisters Marzette (the late Roy) Roth and Nellie (the late Bud) Horton. He was with the 17th Airborne Division United States Army during WWII, a glassworker at Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company and member of Church of Our Lady, Festus, Missouri. Wayne was born on January 21, 1944 in Clayton, Missouri; he was the son of the late, Gordon and Virginia (nee Hayes) Colter. Richard L. Michalsen,81 of DeSoto, passed away in DeSoto on April 19, 2010. Born March 29, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois;, he was the son of the late Caroline Schwartz. His wife, Nina M. Michalsen preceded him in death. Richard served in the US Army during the Korean Era. He was a foreman for Southwest Steel company in St. Louis. He loved to fish and sit on his porch getting a tan.  Mr. Michalsen is survived by three daughters: Vicki (Johnny) Ivory of Ohio, Patricia (Rob) Michalsen of DeSoto and Jacquline Beling of St. Louis, MO; twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Vivian Varga of Wisconsin. Along with his mother and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Bill, Bob, and Howard Michalsen and two sisters.  A graveside service was held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery on Monday, April 26, 2010 with full military honors under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home DeSoto Chapel.

Louise V. Howell, 91, (formerly of Richwoods, Missouri) passed away on April 20, 2010 at the St. Clair Hospital in Fenton; she has been a resident of Marymount Manor for three years. Born July 7, 1918 in Richwoods; she was the daughter of the late Frank and Minnie (nee Pratt) Rulo. Woodrow Howell, her husband, preceded her in death.  Louise was a homemaker; she liked gardening, sewing and was a member of St. Stephens Catholic Church.  Mrs. Howell was the dear sister of Christine Johnson of Minnnesota and Rose Arndt of Hillsboro, MO; dear grandmother of fifteen grandchildren, dear great-grandmother of thirty-seven great-grandchildren, and dear great-great-grandmother of six great-great-grandchildren.  Besides her husband and parents, Louise was preceded in death by two sons: Joseph Howell and Gene Howell; a daughter, Rosa Patton; a brother,Joseph Rulo; and 2 sisters: Alice Butler and Cecelia Olson.  Deacon Ed Boyer officiated the funeral service under the Direction of Mahn Funeral Home DeSoto Chapel on Friday, April 23, 2010 at 1:00pm.  Donations may be made to “Make A Wish Foundation”.

Robert A. "Pat" Thurmond, 55, of DeSoto passed away on Friday, April 23, 2010 at St. Anthony's Medical Center, St. Louis County. Born July 16, 1954, St. Louis, Missouri; he was the son of Loretta (nee McAdams) Thurmond of DeSoto and the late Oliver Thurmond. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Katherine (nee Stoffregen) Thurmond of DeSoto.  Robert was a truck driver for Cardinal Window Company. He enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing and hunting. Along with his wife and mother, he is survived by a son, Sean (Heather) Thurmond of DeSoto; daughters, Kimberly (John) Boyer of DeSoto and Crystal (Robert) Thurmond of DeSoto; brothers, Keith (Polly) Thurmond, Don (Linda) Thurmond and Richard Thurmond, all of St. Louis, Kenny (Wanda) Thurmond of Blackwell, and David (Cathy) Thurmond of St. Louis; sisters, Tina (Rob) Neumann and Tamara Thurmond all of DeSoto; five grandchildren, Samantha, Tyler, Dalton, Taylor, Cayden.  Funeral Services were held Wednesday, April 28, 2010 @ 11:00am at Mahn Funeral Home DeSoto Chapel.  Rev. Billie G. Burrow, 80, of DeSoto passed away on Monday, April 26, 2010 at St. Anthony's Medical Center, St. Louis County. Born November 24, 1929 in Pontiac, Illinois; he was the son of the late Buford and Belvie (nee Jordan) Burrow. He is survived by his dear wife of 59 years, Helen W. (nee Lyerla) Burrow of DeSoto.  Billy was a burner for the American Car Company. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.  Mr. Burrow was the father of David Burrow of DeSoto, Beverly (Frank) Mattingly of Imperial; six grandchildren: Ronnie (Jennifer) Sparks, Lonnie (Trish) Sparks, David (Amanda) Burrow,Danielle (Joe) Robinson and Amy and Andy Mattingly; four great-grandchildren: Tyler, Carter, Rille and Sam; dear brother of Floyd (Margie) Burrow of Bunker, Arneda (Vernon) Hodge of Bunker and Eudora (Woody) Strange of Bunker.   Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thurman Burrow and two sisters, Loretta Burrow and Louise Hay.  Funeral Services were held Friday, April 30, 2010 @ 2:00pm at Mahn Funeral Home DeSoto Chapel.  The funeral service was officiated by Bro. Born March 14, 1911 in Washington County, MO, he was the son of the late Stephen Eli and Mary Josephine (nee Pashia) DeClue. He was preceded in death by his wife Iverne (nee Triplett)  DeClue. She was a homemaker who enjoyed bingo, wrestling and cooking breakfast every weekend for her family. Born July 22, 1933, in St Louis, MO to the late Paul and Irene (Yawberry) Cornstubble. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Harold D. Gould of Crystal City, MO, sons: Gary (Susan) Gould of Festus, MO, Richard Gould of Crystal City, MO and Barry (Mickie) Gould of Toledo, OH, 7 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a son: Samuel Gould, 2 brothers, and 4 sisters. Robert Douglas Pease, 65, of Pevely, Missouri passed away Thursday, April 29, 2010 at his residence.  He was born June 26, 1944 in Wilson, New York the son of the late Howard and Betty (nee Brown) Pease.  In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother Howard Pease.  He is survived by his wife Dorry (nee Bickford) Pease, sons Brian (Heather) Christopher of Auburn, New York, Andrew Douglas (fiancee’ Stephanie Shaw) Pease of Jefferson City, Missouri, daughters Elizabeth (Edmund) Rogers of Kirkwood, Missouri, Catherine Ellen (Bruce) Blust of Cincinnati, Ohio, a brother Christopher Pease of the Dominican Republic, two sisters Cindy Goehle of Lockport, New York, Elizabeth Bluski of Indiana and a sister-in-law Gayle Pease.  He is also survived by six grandchildren, John Robert, Hannah Catherine and Maddie Miriam Christopher, Grace Ellen and William Marcel Rogers and Bruce Robert Blust. He was employed by Defense Mapping Agency as a Cartographer, a United States Army Vietnam War Veteran,  a member of numerous organizations, the Smithsonian Institute, Florida White Rabbit Breeders, World Wide Life Fund, Dutch Rabbit Breeders, Wounded Warriors, VFW, American Legion, American Veteran’s Foundation, St. Joseph’s Indian School, History Book Club, United States Olympic Committee, Vietnam Veterans Association, the American Cancer Society, Running Strong for American Indian Youth, AARP and the Missouri Archeological Society.
