Terence Shane Edwards, age 56, of Festus, Missouri passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at St. Louis University Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri.  He was born July 31, 1954 in St. Louis, Missouri the son of Frances (nee Dodson) Edwards of Festus and the late Ivan Edwards. In addition to his father he is preceded in death by a son Bryan L. Thacker. He is survived by his wife Thelma Catherine (nee Williams) Edwards of Festus, son Douglas C. (Hope) Thacker, Jr. of Arnold, Missouri, a sister Patricia Luecke of Festus and two granddaughters LeAnna and Samantha Thacker. He was a maintenance employee for Wal-Mart.Visitation at Vinyard Funeral Home, Festus from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, June 4, 2010 with funeral services 10:00 A.M. Joel Philip Harman, age 56, of Festus, Missouri passed away June 1, 2010 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Crystal City, Missouri.  He was born April 26, 1954 in St. Louis, Missouri the son of James Philip Harman of Nikiski, Alaska and the late Mary (nee Akins) Harman.  In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his grandfather, Eldred Souder, and a brother Jeffery Harman.  He is survived by his step-mother, Marilyn Jean Harman of Nikiski, Alaska, a son Justin Harman, grandmother Nellie Souder of Festus and a brother Jonathan Lewis (Dorey) Harman of Nikiski. He was a factory maintenance worker. Private Family Services.

Opal Florence Self, age 81, of Festus, Missouri passed away Monday, June 1, 2010 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Crystal City, Missouri.  She was born May 29, 1929 in Festus the daughter of the late John James and Bessie Ellen (nee Yawberry) Hill.  In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a brother Howard Halbert.  She is survived by her husband Eugene J. Self, two daughters, Linda E. Paul of Clayton, Missouri, Brenda (Thomas) Swofford of Festus, 3 grandchildren Daniel James (Melanie) Paul, Amy (Anthony Robertson) McClenahan, Melissa (Kenneth) Carter and 2 great-grandchildren, Cole Robertson and Aiden Carter. She was very active in numerous community betterment organizations and on the committee to form the Jefferson County Veteran’s Memorial Scholarship Fund and continued to serve on the Board of Directors.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Festus/Crystal City. Visitation at Vinyard Funeral Home, Festus from 4:00 P.M. until time of service at 7:00 P.M., Sunday, June 6, 2010 officiated by Rev. Norman E. Johnson, age 85, of  De Soto, Missouri, passed away June 2, 2010 Crystal Oaks Care Center in Crystal City, MO. He was a Service Manager for Meyers & Datillo and Bob Lewis Oldsmobile Automobile Dealerships. Born April 7, 1925 in De Soto, Missouri, he was the son of the late Allen Johnson and Mamie (nee Nunn) Johnson Partney. He was married to the late Wanda Garrett Johnson. Survived by a dear friend Murna Evans; son Michael (Rhonda) Johnson, Crystal City, MO; Brothers & Sisters: (preceded in death by siblings, Walter (wife Ethel survives) Johnson, Agnes Herrell, Dorothy DeClue, Joe Johnson, Charles “Jack” (wife Roberta survives) Johnson, Richard Tackett); Grandchildren: 2 Stephanie (Matt) Whitehead, Fulton, MO and Scott Johnson, Crystal City, MO (preceded in death by one granddaughter, Lauren Johnson); Great-Grandchildren: Lauren Grace Whitehead, Fulton, MO. Alana Dawn McKnight, age 28 of Festus, Missouri passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at St. Louis University Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri.  She was born March 27, 1982 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky the daughter of Alan Preston McKnight of Hopkinsville and Nancy Ellen Bowling of Festus.  She is preceded in death by grandparents, Paul and Irene McKnight.  In addition to her parents she is survived by a daughter, Kaylee Nichole LaBrot of Festus, a sister Amanda (Dennis) Schultheis of Hillsboro, Missouri, grandparents William and Betty Bowling of Crofton, Kentucky, two nieces Gweneth and Ava Grace Schultheis of Hillsboro and dear friend Michael Wilson of Festus. Israel David Smith, 34, of Crystal City, entered into rest on Wednesday, June 2 in Festus after fighting his illness greatly. He was a student at Jefferson College. He loved nature and the outdoors. Born August 5, 1975, Mountain Home, AR, to Bill Abeln of Hillsboro and Lola (Smith) Abeln of Marshfield, MO. Dorothy May Fonville, age 82, of Festus, Missouri passed away Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Crystal City, Missouri.  She was born June 6, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri the daughter of the late Florence Joseph and Minnie M. (nee Carter) Dapron.  In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two spouses Lester Loge and Carl Fonville, a daughter Debra Loge, son Bill Loge, sisters Florence Graham and Mary Martin and a brother Leroy Dapron.  She is survived by sons Eugene (the late Ann) Loge of Glen Carbon, Illinois, Larry (Betty) Loge of DeSoto, Missouri, Orvil (Donna) Loge of Ava, Missouri and 23 Grandchildren. William Joseph Smith, age 84, of Festus, Missouri passed away Friday, June 4, 2010 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Crystal City, Missouri.  He was born November 24, 1925 in Festus the son of the late Edith (nee Belmer) and Roy Smith, Sr.  In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou (nee Templeton) Smith, a daughter Joan L. Smith and brother Roy “Bud” Smith, Jr. He is survived by a son James E. (Donna) Smith of Festus, granddaughter Sydney Smith and dear friend Frances Ravelette. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, member of VFW Post #3777, Elks Lodge #1721, Festus-Crystal City Kiwanis Club, Jefferson Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, Church of Our Lady and longtime Owner/Operator of Smith Jewelers in Festus. Norma June (Adams) Callahan, 77, of DeSoto, entered into rest on June 7, 2010 in DeSoto.  She was born October 28, 1932 in Springfield, Missouri; the daughter of the late Clarence R. and Opal May (Sweet) Adams.  Her husband, Glen T. Callahan preceded her in death. Norma was a housewife and mother; she was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in DeSoto.  Mrs. Callahan is survived by her sons: Glen (Tina) Callahan of Wilbraham, Maine, Wayne (Cindy) Callahan of Bloomsdale, MO and Bruce (Cheryl) Callahan of Blue Ridge Summit, Pennsylvania; two daughters: Diana (Jerry) Wiles of Sullivan, MO and Jane (Greg) Donelson of Cape Coral, Florida;  Dear grandmother of 10 Grandchildren and 15 Great-Grandchildren; dear sister of  Ray Adams of Kaysville, Utah, Howard Adams of Sandy, Utah and  Richard (Janet) Adams of Herrimaan, Utah. Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a a brother, Robert Adams.

Jim L. Pape, 76, DeSoto, entered into rest on June 7, 2010 in Cyrstal City.  He was born November 22, 1933 in Oswego, Kansas; the son of Walter M. Pape of Chandler, Oklahoma and the late Leona (Price) Pape.  His wife Lorna R. Pape preceded him in death. Jim was in the Carpenters Union doing construction.   He enjoyed fishing and hunting; and was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Pape is survived by a son, Bill (P.J.) Pape of Salina, Oklahoma; three daughters: Lenora Clark of Cedar Hill, Teresa (Scott) Andrews of Cedar Hill and Rebekah Jane (David) Canbell of Cottonwood, Kansas; he was the dear grandfather of fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a brother to Walter C. Pape and David A. Pape both of Oswego, Kansas, Bonnie (Joe) Essex of Mountainview, Missouri and Patty;  he was half-brother to Benita, Judy, Cathy and Cindy. Services to be officiated by Rev. Bob Thebeau.

She was a school teacher for 22 Years at Huskey School, Moontown School, Flucom School & Grandview. Born Feb 14, 1917 in De Soto, MO, she was the daughter of the late John M. & Laura (Pogue) Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband the late John B. Dickinson. He was the owner of Jeffco Sanitary Engineering and Crystal Electronics . Born May 6, 1926 in Pontotoc, MS, he was the son of the late Franklin P. Sr. & Lillie (Griffin) McMurry. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley (Gamel) McMurry and three siblings: John McMurry, O’Nell Spears, Edward McMurry. Christine Marie Cowan, age 79 of Crystal City, Missouri passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at her residence.  She was born in Luther, Oklahoma December 20, 1930, the daughter of the late Nellie Susan (nee Brock) and Grover Francis Ray.  In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a sister Irma Erwin and brothers Gilbert, Leon and Paul Ray.  She is survived by daughters Paula Westbrook of Crystal City, Rev. Pam’la Cowan of Fredericktown and Jan Cowan of Crystal City.  Also surviving are 2 grandchildren Stephen Westbrook and Christy (Ira) Johnson, great-grandchildren Caitlin Johnson, Hunter Westbrook, Lia Johnson, Hannah Westbrook and Hayden Westbrook. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, a former moderator and member of the Presbyterian Women, Beta Sigma Psi sorority and a longtime Crystal City municipal election judge. Ronald “Jerry” Lovelace, age 68 of Festus, Missouri passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Crystal City, Missouri.  He was born September 18, 1941 in Festus the son of the late Clayton Thomas and Nettie Minerva (nee Buckner) Lovelace. He is survived by two brothers, James “Thomas” (Rita) Lovelace of Festus and Clayton “Jack” (Mary) Lovelace of Ft. Collins, Colorado.  He is also survived by nieces Mary Lovelace, Jeanne (Jeff) Klos, Debby Lovelace; nephews James T. (Lisa) Lovelace, Paul (Jessica) Lovelace; great-nephews James T. Lovelace, III,  Mitchell Lovelace, Cameron Klos, Anthony Klos and a great-niece Hannah Schell.  Special thanks to Skip Vaughn, caregiver during his illness.
