Eldon L. Gamel, 88, formerly of DeSoto passed away on March 1, 2010 at Parkland Hospital, Bonne Terre, MO. He had been in St. Joe Manor, Bonne Terre for a few months. He was born May 10, 1921 in Jamestown, Arkansas; the son of the late Lee and Letta (nee Donoho) Gamel. His wife, Anna "Alma" Gamel preceded him in death.  Eldon was a civil service employee for the Defense Mapping Agency in St. Louis, Missouri. He served his country and was a member of the United States Army. He was a member of the V.F.W. He enjoyed woodworking and working on his farm.  Mr. Gamel was the father of David Gamel, Ronald (Nancy) Gamel, and John (Sonja) Gamel all of Festus, Glenda (Ivars) Sturms, Belleville, IL, Martha (Charles) Bechtel of Sparks, NV, Mary LaBrier, St. Louis, MO, and Karen (Mike) Williams, DeSoto; grandfather of nineteen grandchildren;  twenty-two great grandchildren and  eleven great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers: Eugene Gamel, Emil Gamel, Bryan Gamel, and two sisters: Glenna Fuehers and Shirley McMurray.  Donations may be made to American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd., Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852-9813.  Officiating the funeral service was Rev. Dennis Heck at Mahn Funeral Home DeSoto Chapel on Friday, March 5, 2010.

Cecilia Ann Wallman, age 84, of Festus, Missouri, formerly of Herculaneum, Missouri passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur, Missouri.  She was born December 23, 1925 in Arnold, Missouri the daughter of the late Lena (nee Schneider) and Barney Becker. She is survived by a daughter Debbie (Tom) Curtis of Bloomsdale, Missouri, sons Allen “Gary” Wallman of Hillsboro, Missouri, David “Keith” (Sharon) Wallman of Herculaneum and Dennis J. Wallman of Festus, grandchildren Wendy (Patrick) Glisson, Sherri Wallman, Shane Wallman, Tisha Wallman, and Brandy (Eric) Pieper, great-grandchildren Ryan and Keara Pieper and Madison, Lena and Preston Wallman, and a sister Edna (the late George) Marquette of St. Louis, Missouri. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Allen Joseph Wallman (12-26-2004), granddaughter Heather M. Wallman, sisters Sr. Julia Becker, Sr. Pearl Becker and Marie (the late Fred) Bloomer, brothers Edward Becker and Albert (the late Alma) Becker. She worked for Scenicview Nursing Center in Herculaneum for 35 years as a Nurses Aide and was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Herculaneum. Visitation at Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home, Pevely, Missouri from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, March 7, 2010 with funeral mass 10:00 A.M. Monday, March 8, 2010 at Assumption Catholic Church in Herculaneum with Fr. Robert V. Fleiter officiating.  Interment at National Cemetery, Jefferson Barracks, Missouri.  Memorials preferred to the National Kidney Foundation.

June “LaVerne”  Brocka, age 68, of Festus, Missouri passed away Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Crystal City, Missouri.  She was born  April 9, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri the daughter of the late Galena Louise (nee Glore) and William “Mike” Creason. She is survived by a daughter Karen Flotron of Festus, son Ronald David Brocka of Festus and two granddaughters Amanda and Ashley Flotron.  Also surviving are sisters Doris Newcomb of Tucson, Arizona, Judy Evelyn (the late Larry) Freeland of Imperial, Missouri, brothers Michael (Faye) Creason of St. Louis, David (Carole) Creason of Chicago, Illinois and Fred (Rosemary) Creason of Santa Barbara, California. She was a homemaker and member of Festus Church of the Nazarene.

Rosie "Jane" Squires, 70, of Festus, passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 4, 2010, at her residence. Born December 30, 1939 in Osceola, Arkansas to the late Lee  and Mildred (Whitaker) Cooper. She is survived by her son: Kenny Squires Jr of Festus, brothers: Edward Wilson of Bourbon, MO, Floyd Wilson of Farmington, MO, Boyd (Lois) Wilson of St Louis, and Wiley Wilson of Las Vegas, NV, sisters: Barbara Mendez of Hacienda Heights, CA, Joann Wilson of Arizona and Marie Thompson of Las Vegas, NV and a grandchild. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband: Kenneth Squires Sr and a brother: John Henry Wilson. Funeral service to the held on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at 1:00 pm at Mahn Twin City Chapel in Festus. Visitation Sunday from 10AM-1PM. Interment in Mt Olive Cemetery in DeSoto. Reverend Gene Moses will officiate the service. Memorials preferred to family in care of Boyd Wilson for funeral expenses.

Pauline V. Christopher, 87, of DeSoto passed away on Friday, March 5, 2010 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Born December 25, 1922, in DeSoto, Missouri to the late Alfred G. and Cora L. (Nee Thost) Erny. Dear wife of the late Leonard Christopher. Dear mother of Richard A. (Joyce) Christopher of DeSoto, James L. (Mildred) Christopher of Farmington, Patty Ann Howard of Leadwood, Judy (James) Speidel of DeSoto, and Betty Cresswell of Ironton. She was loving grandmother to 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Along with her husband, Pauline is preceded in death by her brother Al Erny. Pauline was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in DeSoto. Pastor Wilburn Hinch officiated the service on Tuesday, March 9, 2010.  Arrangements were made under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home DeSoto Chapel.

Carole G. Jackson, age 63, of Festus, Missouri passed away Friday, March 5, 2010 at de Greeff Hospice House in St. Louis, Missouri.  She was born June 30, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri the daughter of Herbert E. Jackson II of Festus and the late Gertrude “George” (nee Lichty) Jackson.  In addition to her father she is also survived by brothers Herbert E. “Tracy” (Jane) Jackson, III of Fenton, Missouri, Gary L. (Dinah) Jackson of Atlanta, Georgia, Kirk A. (Candilee) Jackson of Crystal City, Missouri, 7 Nieces and Nephews and 10 Grand-Nieces and Nephews. She worked in electrolysis and massage therapy in Jefferson and St. Louis County for more than thirty years. She was licensed and trained as a registered electrolysis therapist at the Hoffman Institute in New York City and received her degree as a licensed massage therapist from the St. Louis College of Health Care.  She was an avid bowler holding many local offices in the Women’s International Bowling Association and a longtime member of PEO Chapter JA. She was a lifetime member of First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ in Festus. Visitation at Vinyard Funeral Home, Festus from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, March 7, 2010 and then at the First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at 10:00 A.M. Monday, March 8, 2010 with Rev. Gladys Lucille Cambron, age 90, of Festus, Missouri passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Crystal City, Missouri.  She was born May 19, 1919 in Festus the daughter of the late Ada (nee Moran) and William Boedecker. She is survived by daughters Deborah S. Cambron of Festus,  Denise S. (Tim) Roth of Crystal City, sisters Ada (LeRoy) Renfro of Bullhead City, Arizona, Clara (the late Gilbert) Wegmann of Festus and a granddaughter Amber Lynn (Jomathan Shaw) Mauk of Boulder, Colorado.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Harris West Cambron (9-10-1981), a sister Mabel (the late Cecil) McClain and a brother William H. Boedecker. She worked at PPG as a glass worker and later as a sales clerk at Goldes Department Store and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Crystal City. Visitation at Vinyard Funeral Home, Festus from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Jeanette Francis LaFloure, age 82, of Crystal City, Missouri passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Crystal City.  She was born October 28, 1927 in Herculaneum, Missouri the daughter of the late Nora Mary (nee Hayes) and Alonzo Boyer. She is survived by a son Thomas S. (Carla “Corkey”) LaFloure of Crystal City, granddaughters Rebeque, Elizabeth and Haley LaFloure, and brother Chester “Roy” Boyer of Herculaneum. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert C. LaFloure, 5 brothers and 1 sister. Visitation at Vinyard Funeral Home, Festus, Missouri from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Janice S. Weaver of DeSoto passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at her home. She was a lineworker at Chrysler Corporation.   Born in Gideon, Missouri to the late Jewel and Lorene (nee Ridge) Malloy. Janice is survived by son, Vincent Weaver of DeSoto and daughter, Dawn (Ryan) Selsor of DeSoto, brothers, Tom (Candy) Malloy of California, Larry Malloy of Arkansas, Hareley Malloy of Texas, Gerald Malloy of Arizona, Danny (Georgia) Malloy of New Florence, Missouri and sisters, Loretta (Dwayne) White of Columbia, Missouri, Pat (Russ) Nardi of Arizona, and Debbie Goad of Indiana. Janice was also a loving grandmother to 6 grandchildren.  Reverend Gene Moses officiated the service on Saturday, March 13.  Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home DeSoto Chapel.

Zelma I. Wooley, 89,of Hillsboro MO entered into rest on March 7, 2010 at her residence. She was a retired assembly worker at Bemis Bag Corporation in St Louis and a member of Peace Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church in Hillsboro and loved singing at her church. She was born May 3, 1920, in Ellsinore, MO to the late Quiller and Annie (Berry) Bowman. She is survived by brother: Lee (Thelma) Bowman of Ocala, FL, sister: Beulah (Harold) Boll of Manchester, MO, grandchildren: Vicky Simmons, Donna Gray-Dugger and Robert Dugger, 6 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Harry H. Wooley, daughter: Shirley Dugger, brothers: Robert Bowman, Corbett Bowman, Floyd Bowman and sisters: Ruth Bowman, Opal Bowman and Geneva Davis. Funeral service to be held Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 10AM at Peace Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church in Hillsboro. Visitation Wednesday,  March 10 from 5-8PM at the church. Interment: Joplin New Hope Cemetery in Ellsinore, MO. Memorials preferred to church building fund.

Lillian M. Cain, 94, of Hillcrest Nursing Center in DeSoto, Missouri passed away on Monday, March 8, 2010 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Crystal City. Lillian was born to the late David & Anne (nee Faulkner) Wire in West Plains, Missouri on May 29, 1915.  Lillian was owner of a florist for 35 years. She enjoyed gardening and going to sales.  She is survived by two sons: Larry (Helen) Cain of DeSoto and John (Andi) Cain of Phoenix, Arizona, two daughters: Marion Cain of St. Louis, Karen (Richard) Slusser of Sullivan, Missouri, three siblings: Dean (Sue) Wire of Kentucky, Dorman Wire of California and Marlene (Gerald) Wilson of Hermatage, Missouri. Lillian had 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold Cain.  There was a private service for the family.  Arrangements under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home DeSoto Chapel.

Sherry M. (Lancaster) Labbee was laid to rest with her husband on Monday, March 8th, 2010 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in Saint Louis. She was born in Saint Louis on December 8, 1944 and was raised in Herculaneum, MO. She graduated from Herculaneum High School in 1962. She married Alfred Wayne Labbee on August 5, 1967. They both lived together in Pevely, MO till 2004 when she and her husband moved to Sainte Genevieve. She passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2010 while a resident at Riverview at the park nursing home in Sainte Genevieve. She is survived by one son, Steven W Labbee, daughter in law April M Labbee and two grandchildren, Battle Wayne Labbee age 5 and Kathryn Lillian Marie "Katie" Labbee age 2. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Wayne Labbee, her father, Roy V. Lancaster and mother, Shirley Marie (Drinen) Lancaster of Herculaneum. She was an employee of Harvard Industries and Robin Hood.

Smith, age 69, of Festus, Missouri, passed away Monday, March 8, 2010 at his residence in Festus.  He was born July 3, 1940 in Piedmont, Missouri the son of the late Lola (nee Brown) and Everett Smith. He is survived by his wife Brenda Karen (nee Clark) Smith of Festus, sons Steven Eugene (Kimberly) Smith of Bonne Terre, Missouri, James Everett (Sarah) Smith of Crystal City, Missouri, grandchildren Jeremiah Proffitt, Megan Smith, Samuel Smith, Elli Smith and a brother Lawrence Everett (Joyce) Smith of DeSoto, Missouri. He served in the Army and Army Reserves, retired from Chrysler Corporation after 36 years, was a member of the Piedmont Masonic Lodge; UAW Local#110 retirees and a member of the First Baptist Church of Herculaneum/Pevely, Missouri. Visitation at Vinyard Funeral Home, Festus from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 10, 2010 with services at the funeral home 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 12, 2010 with Rev. Orville C. "Doug" Douglas, 74, of Pevely (formerly of DeSoto) entered into rest March 9, 2010 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Born Nov 14, 1935, in Leadwood, MO, to the late Orvil & Anna (Yancheck) Douglas. He had previously owned Douglas Motors in DeSoto, Monogram Machine in Crystal City & was a broker/realtor for Caldwell Banker. He is survived by his wife, Lois (Bohn) Douglas; children: Joseph (Kelley) Douglas, Hope (Jeff) DeClue & Jill (Hal) Neisler; sister, Barbara Douglas; and 6 grandchildren. Mass service is Fri, March 12, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Crystal City. Burial in JB National Cemetery. Arrangements by Mahn Twin City Chapel of Festus.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John Paul LaPlant (5-2-1984), sons Paul E. LaPlant and Leroy J. LaPlant, sisters Dorothy Miller, Cecelia Richardson, Alberta Higgins, Norma Rush, Sarah Burlage and brothers Eugene “Lester Higgins, Leonard Higgins, John Higgins, Ralph Higgins, Chester Higgins and Donald Higgins. Marie Ellen Leutzinger, age 103, of Festus, Missouri passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Baisch Nursing Center in DeSoto, Missouri.  She was born August 23, 1906 in DeSoto the daughter of the late Sophia (nee Dandurant) and Paul Alex Boyer. She is survived by a son John Durant (Gloria) Masters of Festus, grandchildren Jeffrey B. Masters of Bloomsdale, Missouri and Teresa (James) Lively of Pevely, Missouri. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Walter E. Leutzinger (11-12-2000) a son Charles Leutzinger,  a sister Marguerite MaryAgnes Gartiser and a granddaughter Jacqueline E. (Ronald survives) Coleman. She was employed as a glass worker at Pittsburg Plate Glass Company, Crystal City, Missouri and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post #3777. Visitation at Vinyard Funeral Home, Festus from 2:00 P.M. until time of service at 2:30 P.M. Thursday, March 11, 2010.  Interment Hillsboro Cemetery, Hillsboro, Missouri. Cecil R. “Butch” Ballard, Jr., age 86 of De Soto, Missouri, passed away March 10, 2010 at his esidence in De Soto, MO. He was a Service Driver for Union Electric. Born March 21, 1923 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of the late Cecil R. Sr. and Hallie (nee Yount) Ballard. He is survived by his wife: Virginia (nee Orsulak) Ballard of De Soto, MO, One Daughter:  Gwen Christopher, Des Peres, MO (preceded in death by son-in-law, Charles Christopher), (preceded in death by three sisters, Lucille Stroup, Doris Oker, and Martha Datillo), and survived by his Grandchildren: Carmen Christopher, Washington, D.C. and Chad (Sandra) Christopher, St. Louis, MO. Thomas Clyde Rawson, 70, of Hillsboro, Missouri, passed away on March 10, 2010, in Hillsboro, Missouri. Thomas was born near Bonne Terre, Missouri on February 3, 1940. He was the former owner of Rawson’s Produce in Hillsboro, Missouri, a volunteer for the Missouri Department of Conservation, active with the Jefferson County Republican Club, Long time volunteer with the Hillsboro Little League, active with Hillsboro area Boy Scouts, volunteer with Jefferson Regional Hospice, and worked with Local Emergency Management in Disaster preparedness. Survived by: Wife- Kathryn L. Rawson ( nee Rice) of Hillsboro. Missouri. Daughter- Julie (Jeff) Peters of Festus. Missouri. Daughter- Lisa Cashion of Branson, Missouri. Son- Thomas W. “Chip” (Kim) Rawson of Hillsboro, Missouri. Brother- David Rawson of Hillsboro, Missouri. Sister- Martha Strange of Burns City, Indiana. Sister- Nina Robbason of Cannan,Vermont. She was born in Birlington, Iowa to the late Paul Vincent and Laura (nee Fuetzer) Long on August 10, 1926.  Margery was plant manager for wine manufacturing and had also been employed at Wal-Mart for thirteen years. She volunteered for the voting poles and Childrens Miracle Network.  Ms. Long is survived by two dear friends: Patricia (Marvin) McDowell of Hillsboro and Danielle (Joseph) Robinson of Imperial. She was the dear sister of Marylin Powers of Pinella Park, Florida. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Paul R. Long.  Deacon Ed Boyer officiated  the funeral ceremony on Monday, March 15, 2010.  Burial was in Bellefontaine Cemetery in St. Louis.  Arrangements under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home DeSoto Chapel.

Michael Joseph Coleman, age 56, of Festus, Missouri passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Jefferson Barracks Medical Center, Jefferson Barracks, Missouri.  He was born August 2, 1953 in Bonne Terre, Missouri the son of Betty Lou (nee Scott) Coleman of Festus and the late Vincent “Bink” Coleman. In addition to his mother he is survived by his loving companion of 28 years Tonda A. Breeze, her sons Sean (Amy Jo) Breeze, Matthew (Jane) Breeze, her grandsons Logan, Ben, Lucas, Drew, Will, Nate and Alex, a brother Vincent S. Burnham Andre’ “Jelly” Reecht, age 90, passed away at his residence in Festus, Missouri Thursday, March 11, 2010 after a brief illness. His wife LaVerne, age 88 suffered a aortic aneurism hours after his death.  She passed at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Crystal City, Missouri Saturday, March 13, 2010. Burnham was born October 22, 1919 in Crystal City, Missouri the son of the late Dorothy (nee Achter) and Francis Xavier Reecht. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Francis X. Reecht, Jr. and a sister Dorothy Louise (the late Paul) Sparling. Burnham attended Sacred Heart Grade School in Crystal City and graduated from Crystal City High School where he was a prominent athlete and participated in football, basketball and track.  He was the captain of the 1939 through 1942 CCHS football teams.  He declined a football scholarship to Northwestern University and went to work briefly for Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co. after graduation and before enlisting in the United States Army Air Force in 1942 at the onset of WW II.  He served on the China-Burma-India front and was the recipient of a “Distinguished –Beyond-the-Call of Duty” award.  Sgt. Reecht was honorably discharged in 1945. He retired from PPG industries after 41 years of service, was a life long member of Sacred Heart Church, member of V.F.W. post #3777 and the American Legion post #253.

(nee Hoffman) Reecht was born  December 2, 1921 in Crystal City, the daughter of the late Eva Margaret (nee Thompson) and Benjamin Wilbur Hoffman.  She is survived by a brother Benjamin “Perry” (Caroline) Hoffman of O’Fallon, Missouri. LaVerne was a graduate of Crystal City High School and Rubicam Business School in St. Louis, Missouri.  She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Festus/Crystal City and a member of the Order of The Eastern Star. She worked as the office administrator for several local doctors including Dr. Walter Judge, Dr. Roger Albee and Dr. Duk J. Park. The couples’ children are Timothy H. (Bernadine Sikorski) Reecht of Festus, Kevin B. (Nancy Thiel) Reecht of New Mexico and the late Richard A. Reecht.  Their granddaughters are Lindsey R. and Ashley L. Reecht.Visitation at Vinyard Funeral Home, Festus from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Monday, March 15, 2010.  Funeral services at Sacred Heart Church, Crystal City at 9:00 A.M. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband James Newton Burns (12-7-00), sisters Marylee E. Norma L. Gipson, 72, of Festus, age 72, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Norma was retired from Jefferson Regional Medical Center after working there for 15 years. She is survived by her loving husband, Elva "Gene" Gipson,dear sons, Dennis Gipson of Fulton and Kevin Gipson of Festus, dear daughter, Rhonda (Kenny) Watters of Festus, three brothers, Ronald (Sandy) Boyer of Hillsboro, Joseph Boyer of DeSoto,and Lawrence "Larry" Boyer of Festus, five sisters, Evelyn Joyce of Festus, Dorothy Boedecker of Festus, Ruth (Lloyd) Niemann of Festus,Emma (Ray) Thebeau of Old Mines,and Glenda McGee of Festus. Norma was a beloved grandmother to two grandchildren, Joshua and Jenny and three great grandchildren, Kylee, Korynn and Avery. A funeral Mass was held at Sacred Heart Church in Festus  on March 22, 2010, officiated by Fr. Joseph Wormek. Burial was in Peaceful Ridge Cemetery.  Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home in DeSoto.

Marshall "Dino" Stewart III, age 49, formerly of DeSoto, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2010 in Jefferson City. Marshall was born on December 31, 1960 in St. Louis; the son of Marshall Stewart, Jr, of DeSoto and the late Ethel (nee Evans) Stewart. Dino, enjoyed baseball, watching the DeSoto Little League and he liked to shoot pool. Dino had attended the First Church of God. He was a laborer in construction.  Marshall was a loving father to Marshall Stewart IV, Lynette Phelps,and Latika Phelps each of Topeka, KS. He is also survived by a brother, Richard "Huggy" Stewart of DeSoto, and sister, Paula (James)Douthit of St. Louis, in addition to granddaughter Kayla and grandson, Marshall V. Velva M. Hayes, 92, of Richwoods, passed away on March 20, 2010 at Desloge. Born Nov 3, 1917 in Richwoods, Missouri; she was the daughter of the late Albert S. and Prudy (Nee Duncan) Herrington. Her dear husband, Lawrence Hayes preceded her in death.  Velva was the dear mother of Lawson Smith of Afton, Mary Riddle of DeSoto and Lois "Faye" Huitt of Farmington; Dear grandmother of twelve Grandchildren and dear great-grandmother of five Great Grandchildren. Velva came from a family of 10 children. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was her husband, Lawrence,and one daughter, Ina "Ruth" Freeze.  Velva was a punch press operator for Ramco Piston Company until she retired. She enjoyed quilting, Blue Grass Music, and canning.   Reverend Gene Moses officiated the service on Tuesday, March 23, 2010  at 1:00 PM at Mahn Funeral Home DeSoto. Burial was in Horine Cemetery, Richwoods.

James L. Moses, 85, of DeSoto, passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at his home. He was a retired electrician at Pittsburgh Plate Glass. James was born January 16, 1925 to Jacob F. Moses and Clara E. (Nee Douglas) in Elvins, MO. He became loving husband to Ruby (Nee Armbruster) in August 1946 and is survived by Ruby, son Gary (Diann) of Bonne Terre and daughter Darlene (Steve) Rush of DeSoto. He was preceded in death by two sons, James and Melvin Moses. He is also survived by grandchildren: Samantha, Michaela, Robert, Cassandra, Pam and Tom, as well as Great Grandchildren Isabel & Sophia. James was preceded in death by three brothers, Adrian Virgil, and Robert and one sister, Alice Wells. Surviving siblings are Sisters, Wanda Burns of Valle Mines, Shirley (Glen) Gowen of Valle Mines, and Maxine (Don) Ribble of Valles Mines. Beloved Pet is Ginger. James enjoyed fishing, dancing and working on old cars and will be missed by many friends and family.  Donations may be made to St. Judes Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105-1942.  Services were officiated by Pastors Glenn and Shirley Gowen on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Mahn Funeral Home DeSoto.  Burial was in Mount Olive Cemetery.

Louis Albert “Louie” Picarella, age 76 of Festus, Missouri passed away Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Baisch Nursing Center, DeSoto, Missouri.  He was born October 18, 1933 in Crystal City, Missouri the son of the late Mary (nee Dinolfo) and Anthony Picarella. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Josie Bradley and Rita Muffler and a brother Joseph (Mary survives) Picarella. He is survived by his wife Clara Jo (nee Summers) Picarella of Festus, daughter Katherine Marie Picarella of St. Louis, Missouri, brothers Michael J. (the late Jeanne) Picarella of Crystal City, Tony (the late Carmella) Picarella, Sr.of Crystal City and sister Jenny (Greg) Hensley of Imperial, Missouri. He was a Marine in the Korean War, worked for LaRoche Industries in the maintenance department, a member of the Festus Elks Lodge #1721 and a member of  Sacred Heart Church of Crystal City.Visitation at Vinyard Funeral Home, Festus from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 23, 2010 with funeral mass 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Sacred Heart Church with Fr. Joseph Wormek officiating.  Interment National Cemetery, Jefferson Barracks, Missouri.  In lieu of flowers family requests memorials to Sacred Heart Church or the American Parkinson Disease Association.

Freels, age 84, of Festus, Missouri passed away at his residence Sunday, March 21, 2010.  He was born December 13, 1925 in Clarence, Missouri the son of the late Jewel (nee Harding) and Henry Freels.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Louetta (nee Lyda) Freels and 3 sisters.  He is survived by daughters Sandy (Marvin) Dallas of Crystal City, Missouri, Tammy (Mike Williams) Freels of St. Louis, Missouri, Jackie (David) Bahr of DeSoto, Missouri, Glenna Beth (Danny) Walker of Shelbina, Missouri, grandchildren Holly (John) Mincher, Heather (Charlie) Daly, Andrew (Tasha) Dixon, Adam (Megan) Dixon, David Walker, and 9 great-grandchildren. He was the founder and retired owner/operator of All-Weather Sewer Service for 16 years. Visitation at Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home, Pevely, Missouri from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Donna L. Reeder, 55, of Hillsboro, passed away on March 23, 2010 in St. Louis. Born December 14, 1954 in St. Louis; she was the daughter of the late Homer E and Mary L. (nee Potts) Johnston. Donna is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Terry L. Reeder, Sr. of Hillsboro, MO.  Mrs. Reeder was the dear mother of Terry L. (Jennifer) Reeder, Jr. of Wright City, and Denise M. (Matt) Wallach of Hillsboro; she was the dear sister of Robert (Bonnie) Johnston, of Blackwell, James (Susie) Johnston of DeSoto; dear grandmother of Emily, Lexie, Tyler and Jacob. Donna was a homemaker. He was born September 2, 1923 in Keysville, Missouri the son of the late Lucinda (nee Martin) and John Wesley Vaughn.He is survived by sons, James (Kathy) Vaughn of Greeley, Colorado, Donald (Linda) Vaughn of Granite City, Illinois, Charles (Rhona) Vaughn of Granite City, Arthur Vaughn of Pevely, Missouri, Mike (Diana) Turnbull of Barnhart, Missouri, daughters, Linda (Jodi) Usery of Granite City, Alice (Archie) Hill of Granite City, a sister, Helen Shirley of Tennessee, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Edna Marie (nee Shelton) Vaughn, sister, Virginia Housewright and brothers Arthur Vaughn and Raymond Vaughn. He was employed by the Toro Company as a service technician and was a mechanic at the St. Louis Country Club.  He was a member of the Pentecostal Fellowship in Barnhart, Missouri. Martha Evelyn Jennings, age 90, of Festus, Missouri passed away Monday, March 29, 2010 at Fountainbleau Nursing Center in Crystal City, Missouri.  She was born March 1, 1920 in Marshall, Missouri the daughter of the late Bessie (nee Fisher) and Arthur Steinke. She is survived by daughters, Susan (Bron) Hayes of Pineville, Louisiana, Mary Rudisaile of Phoenix, Arizona, a step-daughter, Lola (Harold) Crump of Herculaneum, Missouri, a sister Virgie Sparks of DeWitt, Missouri, a brother Marvin Steinke of DeWitt, numerous Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Noah Jennings, a daughter, Mildred Dickens, step-son Edgar Noah Jennings and 2 sisters. Services for Mrs. Jennings will be private with interment at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Pevely, Missouri.
