Lee A. Douglas, age 77, of Herculaneum entered into rest on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 in Crystal City, Missouri. Born to the late Leslie R. & Edith A. (French) Douglas, on November 17, 1933, in DeSoto, Missouri. He served in the United States Marine Corp for almost 10 years and for the last 20 years he has worked as manager of the Pevely Flea Market and worked in maintenance for Walmart. He is survived by his son, Lee A. (Sheri) Douglas of Springfield, TN; daughter, Rebecca (Martin) Wynn of Festus, MO; special friend, Edith I. Davis of DeSoto; a brother, Edward Douglas of DeSoto; numerous grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers: Glenwood, Floyd, and Clarence Douglas; and his sister, Virginia Garrett. Lee was an active member of the Amvets #42 in Herculaneum and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #4341 in Crystal City. Visitation:

Ethel May (House) Sedgwick, 88, of Herculaneum entered into rest June 1, 2011 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She was born Dec 30, 1922, in St Louis, to the late Charles & Jeannie (Johnson) House. Survived by daughters: Donna J. Benson and Deborah (Darrell) Hall; sons: Everett (Brinda) Sedgwick, William ( Jennifer) Sedgwick and Mark (Anne) Sedgwick; 18 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren. Funeral service was Sat, June 4, 2011 at Mahn Twin City Chapel, Festus. Interment was in Peaceful Ridge Cemetery, DeSoto.

Timothy Bryan Shores, age 48 of Herculaneum, Missouri passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center at Crystal City, Missouri.  He was born December 14, 1962 in St. Louis, Missouri the son of Jean McGuire of Herculaneum and step-father Anthony McGuire of Potosi, Missouri.  In addition, he is survived by his grandmother Edna Mae Shores of Pevely, Missouri. He is also survived by his life partner and mother of his seven children, Shelly Parks, children Shaunice, Ciera, Timothy II, Lesley, Jordan, Mariah and Taiona Shores, one brother Lester M. Shores of Festus, Missouri and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was a member of Buren Chapel A.M.E. Church in Herculaneum and a concrete finisher by trade. Kathleen Sylvia Dillin, age 63 of Herculaneum, Missouri passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011 at her residence.  She was born October 15, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri the daughter of the late Edwina (nee Higgins) and Ernest C. Baese. She is survived by her husband Charlie Eugene “Matt” Dillin, a son Scott M. Dillin of Herculaneum, a daughter Christina M. VanDoren of Pevely, Missouri, grandchildren Jerremy R. Dillin, Brendan S. VanDoren, Mykayla Y. Starks and Caitlyn S. Dillin, and a brother Ernest W. Baese of Milwaukee, WI. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a sister Ivy Stock and one brother Ken W. Baese. She was the Office Manager for Sound Ideas in Herculaneum and attended Zion Lutheran Church in Pevely. Born July 16, 1951 in Roaring Springs, PA, he was the son of the late Charles and Ferlie (Colbert) Johnson. Cynthia J. Graham “Cindi”, age 53, DeSoto, MO, passed away June 3, 2011 in De Soto, MO. She Worked for the De Soto Press Republic, she was also a seamstress, and was currently employed as a cashier at Hamel & Rowe Hardware. Born May 12, 1958 in De Soto, MO, she was the daughter of the late Burton Alvie Ladd & Virginia (nee Ames) Ladd of De Soto. Along with her mother, she is survived by her husband Hozie D. “Denny” Graham – De Soto, MO; one son Michael D. (Kim) Graham – De Soto, MO; 2  grandchildren: Kaitlyn & Addyson; Brothers & Sisters: Kathy Daugherty – Olympian Village, MO, John B. Robert "Bob" E. McCarty, age 78, of Pevely,  MO, entered into rest on Friday, June 3, 2011 at the Missouri Veterans Home in St James, MO. He was a retired manager for Montgomery Ward.He was a United States Army veteran who served in the Korean War, loved playing ping pong and reading and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Herculaneum. Born September 12, 1932, in St Louis, MO to the late Morris and Ellen (Sauer) McCarty. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years: Rosalee (Glasgo) McCarty, daughters: Debbie (Lynwood) Hodges of Rosswell,NM and Penny (John) Hooton of Festus, MO; grandchildren: Robert Knight, Christopher Knight, Patrick Knight and Ryan Hooton; great grandchildren: Jacob, Jason and Valerie Knight and Joseph and Josiah Knight. Jerri Y. (nee Dobbs) Grobe, age 57, of  Festus, Missouri passed away Sunday, June 5, 2011 at her residence.  She was born October 6, 1953 in St. Louis, Missouri the daughter of the late Doxie (nee Holloway) Smentkowski and Jerry Dobbs.  In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a daughter, Lindsay Reah Kent and a sister Jeanna Timmerman. She is survived by her husband Billy Grobe, son Ryan Kent and wife Jennifer of Arnold, Missouri, daughter Natalie Fallert and husband Derrick of Festus, a step-son Wesley Grobe and wife Becky of DeSoto, Missouri, five grandsons Taylor Kent, Truett and Grady Fallert, Blake Eisenbeis, Preston Wallman and one granddaughter Mariah Grobe. She is also survived by her step-parents, Daniel Smentkowski of House Springs, Missouri and Betty Callahan of St. Louis, Missouri, brothers Jack Dobbs and wife Tammy of Pevely, Missouri, Jim Dobbs and wife Ana of Festus, Chris Miller and wife Robin of Annapolis, Missouri, loving friends Dawn Winkler and husband Randy, Donna Blue and husband Randy, Sharon Meese and husband Al and Kenny Sheets. She was the co-owner/operator of the North End Tavern in DeSoto, Missouri.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and devoted friend who spent much of her life taking care of her family and friends and contributing to the community.  You could always find her sitting on the porch talking with friends, drinking a Pepsi or sweet tea.  Jerri’s most favorite things were her grandchildren, especially watching the oldest, Taylor play basketball.  Her last words to the world would be hug and kiss your children every day of their lives, for it could be the last time.  She knew this because she lived it, and those who knew her knew she meant it. He was a chef and owner of Majestic Culinary; he was a member of N.R.A., enjoyed hunting and the outdoors and was an excellent ice carver. In addition to his mother he is survived by a son, Jacob Mitchell Johnson; former wife, Jeanine Johnson; brothers: Myron (Trudy) Johnson and Matthew (Batina) Johnson; and sister, Melissa (David) Cobb. Theodore “Ted” Hurtgen, Jr., age 86, of Hillsboro, MO, passed away June 9, 2011 at Crystal Oaks in Crystal City, MO.  He was Co-Owner & partner with his brother Robert Hurtgen of Jefferson County Surveying Co. for over 40 years. Born March 15, 1925 in De Soto, MO, he was the son the late Theodore & Grace (nee Evans) Hurtgen, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his wife,  the late Mae Marie (nee Crawford) Hurtgen. Carolyn F. Butler, age 66 of Silsbee, Texas passed away Friday, June 10, 2011 at Harbor Hospital of Southeast Texas in Beaumont, Texas.  She was born October 5, 1944 in St. Louis, Missouri the daughter of the late Helen Dorothea (nee Francis) and William Harvey Burlage.  In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Robert Allen Butler and a brother Donald William Burlage. She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Barnett and husband Al of Silsbee, Texas, and Lisa Kay Walker and husband Jesse W., II of Westlake Louisiana, and two grandchildren Scott Barnett and Jessica Barnett. She had been a resident of the Beaumont area since 1979, and was a retired school teacher with Beaumont Independent School District where she taught 6th, 7th and 8th grade math and computer science at Marshall Middle School. Charles Robert “Bob” Terry, age 72 of Festus, Missouri, formerly of St. Louis, Missouri passed away Monday, June 6, 2011 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Crystal City, Missouri. He was born December 2, 1938 in St. Louis, Missouri the son of the late Pearl (nee White) and Robert B. Terry. He is survived by his wife Leona (nee Cook) Terry, a son Dennis Callahan and wife Gloria of Imperial, Missouri, two grandchildren Mike Herman and wife Suzie of Las Vegas, Nevada and Sally Herman of St. Louis, sister-in-laws Joan Gurnow and husband Leroy of Festus, Norma Haney and husband Richard of Crystal City, Carol Oberle of St. Louis County, Missouri and Janet Fallert of Festus. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother-in-law Donald Fallert. Mr. Terry was retired Assistant Chief of Police with the Olivette Police Department, a Detective with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the St. Louis Major Case Squad. He was born in Crystal City, Missouri, on October 28, 1958, to the late Murrell J. and Shirley M (Boyer) Boyer. Geneva Alma Dorlac Simon, age 100, of Festus, Missouri, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Crystal Oaks Skilled Nursing Center in Crystal City, Missouri.  She was born November 14, 1910 in Danby, Missouri the daughter of the late Kathryn (nee Bailey) and Maynard Umbdenstock. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by husbands Marvin Dorlac and George Simon, sisters Lois Banks and Martha Carron and a brother, Raymond Umbdenstock.  Her last surviving sibling Clifford Umbdenstock of Red Bud, Illinois passed away June 17, 2011, the day after her. She is survived by a daughter June Grayson of Festus, grandchildren, John Grayson and wife Lianne of South Dakota, Elizabeth Brewster and husband Paul of New Jersey and Jamie Faurot of New Jersey, great-grandchildren Matthew and Ryan Brewster, Sara Crowley and Rebecca Faurot, great-great-grandchildren Carley, Anna Sue, Emily Rose, Stella and Leo, and many nieces and nephews. She was a retired glassworker from the Pittsburg Plate Glass, Crystal City plant.  She will always be remembered for her generosity, her selfless love for her family, and her adventurous and can-do spirit.  She was especially fond of times spent with her extended family.  She was an avid cook and loved baking, quilting and sewing, and her volunteer work with the food pantry. Mary "Frances" was born to the late Clifford James and Adell (Langston) Surginer on December 27, 1938 in Rusk, Texas. She is survived by a son, Jimmy Dale Wyatt of Jacksonville, TX; brother, George Walter (Peggy) Surginer of Henderson, TX; sisters: Linda (Surginer) Esquivel of Grand Prairie, TX, Beula Jean (Mark) McCartney of DeSoto, MO, and Bettie (Surginer) (Joaquin) Martinez of DeSoto, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Roger Dale Wyatt and a daughter-in-law, Rebekah Wyatt. She was a member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church in DeSoto, she loved traveling, bingo, family get togethers and she absolutely loved quilting more than anything. Services will be private.

Born on January 25, 1927, in Holdenville, Oklahoma, to the late Raymond C. and Margaret E.(Tillery) Brown. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Carles L. Rowden. Mrs. Rowden was a housewife; she enjoyed camping, fishing, bird watching, spending time with her grandchildren and she loved shoes. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons: Michael (Janet) Rowden of Hillsboro, Mitchell (Ruth) Rowden of Hillsboro and Thomas Rowden of St. Louis; two daughters: Donna (Robert) Davis of Festus and Dorothy (John) Lenz of DeSoto; a brother, Eugene Brown of Stockton, California; 11 grandchildren: Jason, Keith, Lee Anah, Theresa, Phillip, Dawn, Kristina, Corinna, Kevin, Crystal and Nicholas; 22 great grandchildren; and one son-in-law, Steve Denbow. She was born March 27, 1935 in Lincoln, Illinois the daughter of the late Martha (nee Kennedy) and Charles William Short. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Teddy Eugene Davison, a son Michael Davison, grandson Mark Davison, brothers Bobby and Herchel Short and sisters JoAnn Graham and Darlene Green. Patricia A. "Pat" (Bates) Head, 63, entered into rest on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at her DeSoto residence. Born on September 17, 1947 in St. Louis; she was the daughter of the late Dolan Harold & Helen Agnus (Hardin) Buchanan. Her husband, Kenneth David Head preceded her in death in June 2003. Mrs. Head was a member of the Ladies VFW Post 1831 Auxiliary, Color Guard of DeSoto. She enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids and watching movies. She was a CNA for the Fountainbleau Nursing Center in Festus. Survived by son, Robert Bates of St. James; daughter, Cynthia Bates of DeSoto; grandchildren: Anthony, Selena, Jon, Alex and Cameron; great-grandchildren: Antony and Mykal; and brother, Jerry (Paulette) Buchanan of Arnold. Robert Daniel Hudson age 73 of Festus, Missouri passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Crystal City, Missouri. He was born September 21, 1937 in Indianapolis, Indiana the son of the late Mildred and Weldon Hudson. He is survived by his wife Rev. Rose Marie Hudson, daughter Michelle Richards and husband Mark of Denver, Colorado, sons Jason Hudson and wife Gloria of Las Vegas, Nevada, Marcus Hudson and wife Denise of Webster Groves, Missouri and Aaron Mang and wife Judith of Germany, 11 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. He was a United States Navy Veteran, a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1230 and a member of the Masonic Lodge of Leadwood, Missouri. He was born November 3, 1952, in Jonesboro, Arkansas to the late Ora Lee and Verneta (Johnston) Williams. He is survived by his dear wife of 14 years, Patty (Parker) Williams. Mr. Williams was a truck driver for Dart. He was a member of the Rose of Sharon Church in DeSoto. He enjoyed playing a guitar, being a Cardinals fan, talking on the CB, and listening to the scanner. Mr. Williams was the father of Michael (Caree Jernigan) Williams of DeSoto, Terry Williams of DeSoto and Verneta (Curtis) Schwein of Kane, Illinois; a brother to Mary Rulo of Cedar Hill; a dear grandfather to Juanita, Judith and Julie Cook. Dr. Joseph “Reginald” Lane, age 89, of Festus, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at his residence.  He was born June 16, 1922 in Corning, Arkansas, the son of the late Lena Lucille (nee Taylor) and Joseph Whitmal Lane. He is survived by his wife Joan (nee Haas) Lane, daughter Stephanie Van Elletson and husband Dale of Columbia, Missouri, son Laurence Brandon Lane and wife Mary Jane of Festus, sister Ethel “Regina” Bock of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, sister-in-law Carmen Lane of Kentucky, grandchildren Bryan Joseph Lane and wife Krista of Overland Park, Kansas, Melissa Marie Lane of Festus, Dane Elletson and wife Robin of Columbia, and Nathan Elletson of Columbia, great-grandchildren Brandon, Addyson and Spencer Lane and Alex, Noah and Lucy Elletson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Robert W. Lane and  brother-in-law Norman Bock. Serving with the Army Air Corps he piloted a B-26 Marauder Bomber in the D-Day Invasion during WW2, and afterward retired as Major from the Air Force Reserves.  He was an optometrist and operated his office on Festus Main Street for 54 years, member of the American Optometrists Society, Church of Our Lady in Festus and Knights of Columbus Council #1230. Visitation after 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 1, 2011 at Church of  Our Lady in Festus, followed by Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. with Fr. John Kerber officiating.  Interment with full military honors at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.  Memorials preferred to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Formerly of DeSoto, he owned Jones' IGA on Main Street and was one of the original founders of the State Bank of DeSoto.  He was a WWII US Coast Guard veteran, a member and former commander of VFW Post 1831, as well as a member of Amvets Post 42, DeSoto Chapter #15 Order of the Eastern Star, Masonic Lodge 119 and a top officer in all bodies of the York Rite and was elected to the Knights of the York Cross of Honour. He is survived by his fiancee’ Marty (nee Reeves) Thebeau of Farmington, son Jeff Kimberlin and wife Brenda of St. Louis, daughter Stacy Kimberlin-Clifton and husband Barry of St. Charles, Missouri, his fiancee’s children, Krista Lore and husband Andrew of Kansas City, Missouri, Clinton Thebeau and wife Brooke of Kansas City and Michael Thebeau and wife Alyson of Imperial, Missouri, four grandchildren, Savanna and Shane Clifton and Mairead and Claire Kimberlin, a sister Gayle Overby and husband Jerry of Festus and a sister-in-law Kathy Kimberlin of Washington, Missouri. In addition to his father he is preceded in death by a brother Mickey Kimberlin. He was a member of the First Christian Church/Disciples of Christ, a veteran of the US Army in the Vietnam War, a member of the 220th Engineering Unit of the Missouri National Guard, Festus and a salesman in the Concrete Business. Anthony "Tony" R. McMonigle, age 27, of Hillsboro, MO passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Barnes Jewish Hospital. He was a construction worker for Montgomery Construction. He loved to play guitar, sing karaoke and was a tatoo artist. Born May 3, 1984, in St Louis, MO to Gerald McMonigle of Poplar Bluff, MO and Sharon (Muser) McMonigle of Hillsboro, MO. He is also survived by a daughter: Laila McMonigle of St Louis, MO, grandmother: Juanita Leydon of Barnhart, MO; brother: Brian McMonigle of Imperial, MO and sister: Natosha McMonigle of Arnold, MO along with aunts, uncles cousins and friends.
