Kermit S. Cook Jr., age 63, of Festus, MO, entered into rest on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Born on May 5, 1948, in St Louis, MO to the late Lillian (Williams) and Kermit S. Cook Sr. He is survived by his spouse: Mary Brown Cook of St Louis, MO, son: John (Kelly) Cook of St Louis, daughters: Jessica Cook of St Louis, Kathleen Cook of St Louis and Marilyn Cook of St Louis, grandchildren: Jaren, Spencer, Adrien, Gabriel and Solomon, sisters: Lucretia (Felix) Dukes of Lenexa, KS, Kimberly (Paul) Bass of St Louis, MO, Joshlyn (Keith) Johnson of St Louis, and Lola Underwood of Festus, brother: Jeffrey Bingham of St Louis, stepmother: Priscilla (Gray) Bingham Cook of Festus, uncles and aunts: Ernest and Evelyn Cook of Festus, MO and Latham and Rose Robinson of St Louis, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Kermit was a retired Tech Sergeant from the United States Air Force. He served his country during the Vietnam War and was enlisted from July 1967 - July 1987. He was a member of the Mt Olive Missionary Baptist Church of Crystal City where he sang in the church choir. Donald Fitzgerald, age 78 of Hillsboro, MO, passed away Feb. 2, 2012  at Baisch Nursing Center, De Soto, MO. He was a Teacher & Middle School Principal for the Hillsboro R-III District for 31 Years, retiring in 1998   Born Nov. 3, 1933 in  Elvins, MO, he was the Son of the late Marvin & Virgie (Chrisco) Fitzgerald. He is survived by his Wife: Margaret Fitzgerald, Hillsboro, MO; Children: John (Jane) Fitzgerald – Owensboro, KY, Jane Ellen Fitzgerald – Spring Hill, KS; Brother-in-law: James Weber – Independence, MO; Sisters-in-law: Mary Alice Weber & Merlin Weber of De Soto; Grandchildren: 2 Tyler & Lori (Jonathon) Bequette; Great Grandchildren: 2  Isaiah & Alex; Nieces: Sandra (Gale) Marler of Elvins, MO and Judy (John) Rasche of Decatur, IL; (Survived by many nieces and nephews). Janet was born on July 7, 1950 to the late Buddy and Mae (Rockwell) Waters in St. Louis, Missouri. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and worked in the healthcare industry. She is survived by her husband, Vernon Lane of DeSoto, son, Jeffrey (Sonya) Schneider of Ferguson, daughter, Pamela Seeley of DeSoto, grandchildren John and Angelica, and Great granddaughter, Layla, brother, Richard, sisters, Gloria, Diane, Barbara, Patricia and Deborah. Born May 6, in Herculaneum, MO, she was the Daughter of the late Ralph B. and Irene V. (nee Boyer) Eaton . She was also preceded in death by her Husband, the late Leonard L. “Jim” Jackson. Charles Simon “Sam” Jokerst, age 88, of Crystal City, Missouri passed away Friday, February 3, 2012 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Crystal City, Missouri.  He was born October 4, 1923 in Crystal City the son of the late Martha (nee Schwent) and Henry Jokerst. He is survived by sisters Marcella Cunningham of Crystal City, Corella Caldwell and husband Dwight of Crystal City, Millie McClanahan of Festus and a brother Raymond Jokerst and wife Barbara of Galion, Ohio. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother Herbert Jokerst, brother-in-laws Jack Cunningham, Norville Wall, Roger McClanahan, a sister Florence Wall and sister-in-law Nan Jokerst. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Crystal City where he ushered and served mass for many years.  He also helped establish the St. Vincent DePaul society and Food Pantry at Sacred Heart.  He was a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus #1230, a member of VFW Post #3777 and umpire for the Twin City Little League.  He served in the United States Army during World War II and landed on Normandy Beach. She was a Physicians Assistant for a Podiatrist; alsoworked for De Soto Community Church of God. Born June 28, 1967 in Crystal City, Missouri, she was the Daughter W. Glenwood and Carolyn C. (nee Zoph) Berry, De Soto, MO. Along with her parents she is survived by her Mother-in-Law: Ilene Smiddy, De Soto, MO, her Husband Carl “Dusty” Rhodes, De Soto, MO; Children: Casey Rhodes, De Soto, MO, Cheston Rhodes, De Soto, MO, Claira Rhodes, De Soto, MO; Brothers & Sisters: Glenn Allen Berry, De Soto, MO, Scott Berry, De Soto, MO. Kermit "Dale" Nall, age 78, of Festus, MO, entered into rest on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at his residence. Born on January 24, 1934, in Bismarck, Missouri to the late Bryan and Delores (Kannady) Nall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Doris J (Sikes) Nall who died in January of 2011. He is survived by his daughter: Lea Ann (Jerry Williams) Nall of Festus, MO, grandchildren: Carrie Ann (Josh) Boyer of Festus, MO and Jay Dale Tyler of Festus, MO, great grandchildren: Landrey Brielle Boyer and Nolen Joshua Boyer of Festus, MO and sister: Wilma "Banny" (James) Theodoro of Crystal City, MO. He was a retired truck driver for Truck Transport. He was a United States Army veteran. He was a member of the Grace Center of Festus.  He loved fishing, skating, bowling and adored his grandkids. Memorial service to be held on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 6:00pm at the Grace Center, 1401 West Main, Festus. Interment private. Donations to the Grace Center preferred. Mickey A. Boles, Sr., 66, of DeSoto entered into rest on February 5, 2012 at his residence. Born February 21, 1945 in Indianapolis, IN.; he was the son of the late Carl and Pearl (nee McDonald) Boles. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Jean (nee Ruble) Boles of DeSoto. Mr. Boles was a US Navy veteran having served during the Vietnam Era. He was a Commercial Aviation Fueler at Lambert International Airport in St. Louis. He loved basketball, enjoyed fishing, traveling and riding ATV's and motorcycles. Along with his wife, he is also survived by a son, Mickey A. (Cindy) Boles, Jr. of Rolla, MO; two daughters, Tammy (Thomas) Turner of Elsberry, MO. and Nataye (Donnie) Recar of DeSoto; two brothers, Eddie (Sue) Cowsert of Ironton and Tommy (Lisa) Cowsert of Virginia; two sisters, Connie (David) Jones of Branson, MO and Patty (Mike) Nelson of Minnesota; four grandchildren, Mickey III, Ashley Jean, Dustin and Brandon; three great-grandchildren, Miranda, Noah and Hunter Lee. LaVerne M. Johnson, age 93, of Festus, Missouri, passed away Monday, February 6, 2012 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Crystal City, Missouri.  She was born February 2, 1919 in Southeast Missouri, the daughter of the late Blanche and Herbert Holliday.  In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Francis Johnson, a brother Herbert Holliday and sister Velma Holliday.  After her parents death she was raised by an aunt, the late Marie Daues. She is survived by daughters Janet L. Alcott and husband James of Festus, and Mary Francis Hazelwood and husband David G. of St. Charles, Missouri, sons Robert W. Johnson and wife Lee Ann of Wildwood, Missouri and Ralph H. Johnson of Wildwood, grandchildren Jimmy and Tara Alcott, Julia and Caitlin Johnson, Ashleigh Steib and husband Charlie, Adam and Lindsay Johnson, and Laura Williams and husband Todd, great-grandchildren Meghan and Braden Williams. Robert Peter “Bob” Martin, Jr., age 91 of Festus, Missouri passed away Monday, February 6, 2012 at Crystal Oaks Skilled Nursing Center in Crystal City, Missouri. He was born July 11, 1920 in Plattin, Missouri the son of the late Odelia “Olivia” (nee DeVoto) and Robert Peter Martin, Sr.  In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by sons Stephen and Wayne and a brother-in-law Kenneth. He is survived by daughters Betty and husband Robert of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, Debora and Connie, a daughter-in-law Janet, a half-brother Clarence “Butch” of Festus, a sister Dorothy, 6 Grandchildren and 13 Great-Grandchildren. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Crystal City, VFW Post #3777, American Legion Post #253, a foreman in the warehouse department at Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company and a United States Navy veteran. Visitation at Sacred Heart Church, Crystal City, from 10:00 A.M. Friday, February 10, 2012 until time of mass at 11:00 A.M. officiated by Fr. Born September 28, 1924 in Boothspoint, TN, she was the Daughter of the late John and Blanche Margaret (nee Eskridge) McBride. Robert Eugene Johnston, age 66 of Arnold, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at St Anthonys Medical Center in St. Louis County, Missouri.  He was born January 23, 1946 in Ocala, Florida, the son of the late Myrtle and Harold Johnston.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Glinda (nee Stewart) Johnston. He is survived by sons Robert A. Johnston of Pacific, Missouri, Thomas R. Johnston of Festus, Missouri and Tim Johnston of Michigan, a sister Ann Johnston of Norfolk, Virginia and 2 grandchildren Kara L. Johnston and Kyle Johnston. He was a team leader for Convergys Corporation.Visitation at 2:00 P.M. with funeral service at 6:00 P.M., Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus, officiated by Rev. Kevin T. Mabery, 37, of DeSoto passed away on February 8, 2012 at St. Alexius Hospital in St. Louis.  Mr Mabrey worked as a laborer.  He was an active member of Narcotics Anonymous and a volunteer with the DeSoto Stocking Stuffers program.  Born September 12, 1974, in St. Louis; he was the son of Alice (Mike) York Mabery Frisse of Marine, Illinois, and the late Melvin K. Mabery St. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mary Mabery of DeSoto; a daughter, Taylor Mabery of DeSoto; a brother, Melvin Mabery, Jr. of Potosi; a sister, Sharon Mabery of Collinsville, Illinois; his father-in-law, Russ Chapman of DeSoto; two brothers-in-law; Russ Chapman Jr. and nathan Chapman, and a nephew, Scott Mabery. Funeral services were held Feb 13 at the Mahn Funeral Home, DeSoto Chapel, officiated by the Reverend David Spillman.  Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in DeSoto.  Memorials may be made to the Family.  Arrangements were by Mahn Funeral Home.

Geneva Bernice Mattison, age 84 of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, formerly of  Herculaneum, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital. She was born January 31, 1928 in Herculaneum, Missouri the daughter of the late Mary Edna (nee Politte) and Ervin Curtis Cawvey. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Russell K, Mattison, Sr., son Russell K. Mattison, Jr., daughter Janet L. Dalton and brother Walter Cawvey. Edward A. Courtoise, 63, of Barnhart passed away February 9, 2012, at his home.  Mr. Courtois was a shear operator for Southwest Steel and a member of Teamsters Union Local 688.  Born Oct 6, 1948, in Mineral Point, he was the son of the late Raymond and Zelma (Dalton) Courtois.  He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Katherine "Kathy" (Edwards) Courtois; two sons, Edward Paul (Laura) Courtois of Blackwell and Jason Scott (Amy) Courtois of Crystal City; five grandchildren, Kyle, Ashley, Caleb, Annabelle and Kirsten; and three sister, Nora (Bob)Lawrence of St. Louis, Glenda Courtois of Indiana and Audrey of Chicago, Illinois.   He was precded in death by five brothers:  Frank Courtois, Jesse Courtois, Lloyd Courtois, Bucky Courtois and Dennis Courtois.  Funeral services were held February 14, 2012 at Mahn Funeral Home DeSoto Chapel, officiated by the Reverend Gene Moses.  Burial was in the Sunset Hills Cemetery in Potosi.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4207 Lindell Blvd. St. Louis, MO  63108. Joan Ann LaGarce, age 70, of Festus, Missouri, passed away Friday, February 10, 2012, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Crystal City, Missouri.  She was born June 27, 1941 in Flat River, Missouri the daughter of the late Belva Mae (nee Watson) and Alvin Leigh.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her three spouses, Harold Lee Driemeier, Phillip Ray Nelson and Wilber John LaGarce. She is survived by a son Harold Lee Driemeier II and wife Keely of Fenton, Missouri, a daughter Deanna Savage and husband Todd of Festus, grandchildren Harold Lee Driemeier III, Jason Driemeier and wife Sarah, Jeremy Elless and Jamie Driemeier, and a great-grandson Carson Driemeier. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of DeSoto, Missouri and “The Best Is Yet To Come” gospel music singing group based in Branson, Missouri. Visitation 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Dustin Kevin Young, age 24, of Festus, Missouri, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2012 in Festus.  He was born March 17, 1987 in Creve Coeur, Missouri, the son of Kelly (nee Collins) and Fred Young of Festus.  Other family members are grandparents Fred and Virginia Young of Bloomsdale, Missouri and the late Joann Collins and Robert Collins of Festus, a son Trenton Kevin Young of Festus, a brother Matthew Young and wife Andrea of Crystal City, Missouri, several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pevely, Missouri and had worked LMC Industries in St. Louis, Missouri. Visitation after 4:00 P.M. with funeral services at 8:00 P.M. Homer Lee “Chigger” Boyer, age 79, of Valle Lake, DeSoto, Missouri, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2012, at his residence.   He was born August 17, 1932 in Brickeys, Missouri the son of the late Bertha (nee Aubuchon) and Oliver Boyer.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Frances Lee (nee Becker) Boyer and a daughter Linda Bailey. He is survived by his second wife Cecelia “Joan” (nee Vessell) Thurman Boyer, daughters Susan Pendley and husband Randal of Blackwell, Missouri and Cindy Hulsey and husband Chris of Desloge, Missouri, a brother Wayne Boyer and wife Bev of Valle Lake, DeSoto, grandchildren Leighanna and Kristi Hulsey, Tony Boyer, Randi, Alysa and Kris Pendley and a great-grandson Keegan Ransom. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Crystal City, Missouri, a retired supervisor from Missouri Natural Gas Co., a member of the Ste. Genevieve Elks Lodge, the Amvets, VFW #3777 and American Legion #253 where he was a past Post and District Commander and awarded the 2005 Distinguished Legionaire of American Legion Zone 4. Kristine Cecilia Schell, age 40, of Festus, Missouri passed away Saturday, February 18, 2012 after a courageous battle with lymphoma.  She was born April 18, 1971 in St. Louis, the daughter of Bill and Kathleen (nee Dunn) Woodard.  In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband Dave Schell and her son Dawson; her brother Greg Woodard and wife Wendy; her mother and father-in-law Vernon and Sharon Schell; her brother-in-law Dan Schell and maternal grandmother Mickey Dunn.  She is also survived by two nephews Cody and Derek Woodard, several aunts, uncles and cousins.  She was a very special “Aunt Krissy” to Sydney, Isabelle, Anna and Otto Donaldson, Avery, Eli and Emme Frimml, Kole Williams, Carlee Patillo and Zoe Warren.  She was preceded in death by three grandparents, George D. Dunn, William Woodard, Sr. and Ann Woodard. Kris attended Mineral Area College on a basketball scholarship and continued to play basketball and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from Maryville University.  She was a specialist in certified hand therapy, an ASTYM certified provider, and the Assistant Clinical Director at Pro-Rehab’s Festus facility. Kris was an avid athlete, competing in several marathons, duathlons and triathlons.  She believed in living life to its fullest and was a true inspiration to all who knew her.  Her adventurous spirit led her to a myriad of experiences, like skydiving, hiking the Grand Canyon, climbing the Great Wall of China and studying abroad, along with countless other adventures.  Although if asked, she would tell you her greatest adventure was Motherhood. "Obe" owned Obe's Smoke House and was a production worker for Ford Automobile Plant. He was a member of U.A.W. Local #325 and the DeSoto Community Church. Mr. Henderson was born November 14, 1931, in New Madrid, Missouri, to the late Climme and Lily (Robinson) Henderson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Odessa (Evans) Henderson on March 8, 2011. She worked on the assembly line at Switzer Candy in St. Louis until her retirement.
