Susan Diane Guzy, age 52, of Festus, Missouri, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Crystal City, Missouri.  She was born July 7, 1960 in St. Louis, Missouri the daughter of Glenda (nee Howell) Wilfong of Festus and the late Alvin “Ray” Wilfong. She is survived by her husband Ray Guzy, a brother Mark Wilfong and wife Carol Ann of Iowa, her sister Debbie Hampton and husband Wade of Festus, nieces and nephews Erin Wilfong, Chris Wilfong and wife Ashley, Ethan and Renae Hampton, Michael Ray Wilfong, great-nephews Cameron and Noah Wilfong, a great-niece Kristionna Renee Wilfong and her beloved cat Ottis. In addition to her father she is preceded in death by a brother Michael Dean Wilfong. She was a long-time bus driver for the Festus Public Schools. Visitation 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus with funeral services at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, November 4, 2012 at the funeral home officiated by Rev. Lois Irene Horton, age 82, of Rolla, Missouri, formerly of Barnhart, passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at her Rolla residence. Born on November 4, 1929, in Corvallis, Oregon to the late Gaylord M. and Ethel M. (Fairchild) Felton. In addition to her parents,she was preceded in death by her husband: Lawrence C. Horton who passed away in 1981, brother: Gaylord "Bud" Felton and sister: Bernice Kibble. . She is survived by her sons: John (Becky) Horton of Chattanooga, TN, James (Jackie) Horton of Columbus,GA, Timothy (Bonnie) Horton of Chicago,IL and Thomas (Sara) Horton of Decatur, AL,daughters Becka (Jessie) Rich of Barnhart, MO and Laura (Timothy) Noblin of Rolla, MO, 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, brother: James (Maggie) Felton of Eugene, OR, and sister: Evelyn (the late Dale) Elliott of Eugene, OR. She was a homemaker and a member of the Second Baptist Church of Festus. She enjoyed singing, oil painting, reading, word puzzles, sewing and crocheting blankets for her grandchildren. Wiley Clark “Pat” LaFloure, age 76, of Crystal City, Missouri, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2012 at his home.  He was born March 18, 1936 in Festus, Missouri, the son of the late Mildred (nee Vaughn) and Ardell LaFloure. He is survived by his wife Mary Lou (nee Renfro) LaFloure, sons Thomas A. (Charlotte Ferrell) LaFloure of St. Louis, Missouri and James LaFloure of DeSoto, Missouri, his daughter Michelle (Greg) Spencer of Arnold, Missouri, grandchildren James LaFloure Jr., Jeffrey Coleman, Jessica (Gary) Hite and Shawna Via, great-grandson Gavin Hite and cousin Rebecca Canepa. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a grandson Russell LaFloure. He was a retired sheet metal inspector from McDonnell Douglas/Boeing Aircraft after 38 years of service.  His greatest interests were his family and fishing, both brought him much pleasure. A memorial gathering will begin at 9:00 A.M. with memorial service at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 5, 2012 at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus, officiated by Rev. Terry Crank, pastor of Hematite Christian Church in Hematite, Missouri.  Memorials in his memory are preferred to the Special Olympics or the Ozark Food Pantry.

Michael Lee Mitchell, Age:  37, of Hillsboro, MO, passed away November 1, 2012 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Crystal City, MO. He was a Laborer at Alpha Fencing. Born October 10, 1975 in St. Louis, MO, he was the Son of the late Jimmy R. Mitchell and Priscilla F. (Parker) Mitchell Jackson and was also preceded in death by step-father, Buck Jackson. Robert Edward Nahlik, age 78 of Rogersville, Missouri, formerly of Crystal City, Missouri passed away Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Jordan Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rogersville.  He was born October 8, 1934 in Arnold, Missouri the son of the late Mildred (nee Frederitzi) and Edward Nahlik.  In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Carol (nee Hoefer) Nahlik and a son Robert R. “Butch” Nahlik. He is survived by daughters Shelley Langhofer and husband Dan of Rogersville and Cindi Lembeck and husband Mike of Valley Park, Missouri, a brother Charles Nahlik and wife Faith of House Springs, Missouri, a sister-in-law Edna Hoefer of St. Louis, Missouri, grandchildren Hunter Abbey and wife Katie, Joshua and Eric Lembeck and a great-grandchild Marin Abbey. He was the owner/operator of Roca Bait Shop, the Director of the Jefferson County Law Enforcement Training Academy, former Crystal City Police Officer and a member of the American Legion Post #253. Mary "Jackie" Mantz, 72, of DeSoto, entered into rest on November 2, 2012 at St. Anthony's deGreeff Hospice in St. Louis County. She was a homemaker, a doll collector and she loved arts & crafts and working with her hands. Born in St. Louis, Missouri on May 2, 1940; the daughter of the late Frank and Lillian "Horn" Novak. She leaves behind her loving husband of 53 years, Jimmy G. Mantz of DeSoto. In addition to her husband she is survived by a granddaughter, Crystal (Matt Davis) Gallaghen of Hillsboro; three great-grandsons: Dylan, Parker and Hunter; a sister, Judy Houilan of Arnold; a niece, Carrie Ann Robinson of Hillsboro; a nephew, Timothy Houilan of Arnold; and a great niece, Kaitlyn Robinson. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Patricia A. Puccinelli and a brother, Gerald Novak. Visitation: Date: Tuesday, 11/06/2012 Time: 11:00am - 1:00pm. Gerald Lee Buatte, age 74, of Festus, Missouri, formerly of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2012 at his home.  He was born December 16, 1937 in Kaskaskia, Illinois, the son of the late Irene (nee Moll) and Vallie Buatte. He is survived by his wife L. Jeweldean (nee Graham) Adams Buatte, daughters Lisa Fleeman and husband Jeff of Bloomsdale, Missouri, Serena Adams-Bolden and husband Jim of Pevely, Missouri and Andrea Sue Adams-Hackmann and husband Gary of Dittmer, Missouri, son Scott Adams of Festus, a sister Beverly Ann Stark and husband Gary of Cabot, Arkansas, grandchildren Megan and Logan Fleeman, Jessie Kate Bolden and Jamie Beckermann and husband Nathan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Barbara Ann Feltz and her husband Bob. He was retired from the Mississippi Lime Company in Ste. Genevieve, a member of the Mississippi River Eagles Club #4341 and had served 8 years in the Missouri Army National Guard. Visitation 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Barbara Coleman Steel (nee Miller), age 80, of Pacific, Missouri, passed away on November 3, 2012, in Fenton, Missouri. She was born July 8, 1932, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was a retired office manager for Biocold Environmental. She is one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and attended the Kingdom Hall, De Soto, Missouri and Yuma Arizona. She is survived by, Son-Jerry (Sharon) Steel, of Yuma, Arizona; Daughter-Julie Standley (Michael) of Hillsboro, Missouri; Son-Tom (Mary) Steel, of Union, Missouri; Brother-Michael (Theresa) Miller, of Yuma, Arizona. Also survived by her Grandchildren, Brian Steel, Ann Steel-Johnson, Melissa Alexander, Eric Standley, Katie Dean, Madisen Watson, Levin Steel, and Anthony Steel. Her Great Grandchildren, Emma Steel, Elisha & Elsie Steel, Elizabeth, Natalie, and Julie Ann Alexander, Carter Standley and Audrey Dean. Reba W. Cooksey, age 71, of Festus, MO entered into rest on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at her residence. Born on June 9, 1941, in Hackleberg, AL to the late Lon and Eva (Cochran) Higgins. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years: Donald J. Cooksey of Festus, MO, sons: Dan (Madonna) Cooksey of Festus, MO and David (Krista) Cooksey of Festus, MO, daughters: Donna Houpt of St Louis MO, Kelli (Bruce) Frana of Festus, MO and Vicki (Eric) Merrell of Festus, MO, grandchildren: Dusin, Jamie, Teresa, Angie, Melissa, Lindsey, Don, Lauren, Krista, Kasey, Matthew, Sean, Cody and Amber, great grandchildren: Tylan, Kailey, Michael, Julia, Rylie and Payton, sisters: Mae (Hollis) Garrett of Millstadt, IL, Faye HIggins of Festus, MO and Doris (Al) Homer of Pevely, MO and sister in law: Geraldine (Norman) Vessell of Festus, MO. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother: Jim Higgins and sister: Helen Higgins. She was a waitress for 50 years for Theodoro's Restaurant and most recently at Bob Evans in Festus. She enjoyed traveliing, shopping and spending time with her family. Joan Martha Holt, age 64, of Pevely, Missouri, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2012 at Barnes/Jewish Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri.  She was born November 13, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of the late Mary (nee Kozlowski) and Michael Kowalski. She is survived by her son James Holt and wife Angie of DeSoto, Missouri, daughters Denise Smith and husband Tim of Pevely and Lori Pinkard and husband Brian of Pevely, sister Margaret “Marge” Kearns and husband Patrick of Gravois Mills, Missouri and grandchildren Jeff (fiance’ Molly Lucas) Jourdain Jr., Mandi Smith, Nicholas Holt, Rachel Pinkard, James Holt Jr., Dalton Lowe, Angel Lowe, Nicole Holt, Ernest Lowe III, Jennifer Dobbs, Jennifer Coleman and Douglas Smith and wife Heather. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sisters Marcella Neisz and Marie “Toni” Wilson and her husband Dennis and a grandson Miachael Holt. She was worked as a medical transcriptionist at Jefferson Memorial Hospital and as a waitress at Shoney’s Restaurant in Crystal City, Missouri and later was partners with her sister at Buster’s Bait and Tackle Shop in Laurie, Missouri. Mary Katherine “Kathy” Carrow, age 68, of Festus, Missouri passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at her residence.  She was born August 5, 1944 in St. Louis, Missouri the daughter of the late Elizabeth Jane (nee Jewelson) and George Benjamin Riebold. She is survived by her husband James Richard “Jim” Carrow, her son James R. Carrow and wife Sandy of Festus, daughters Marlo K. Stanger and husband Tim of Festus, Mary K. Erickson and husband Shawn of Festus and Malinda K. Milfelt and husband John of Perryville, Missouri, a brother Leroy Riebold of St. Louis, Missouri, a sister-in-law Steph Riebold, grandchildren Ronnie Ruess and wife Cieara, Kayla Propst and husband Andrew, James Carrow and wife Shelby, Tiffany Stanger, Dustin ,Todd Lucas, Quincy Erickson & Schuler Erickson and great-grandchildren Ayla and James Carrow. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by brothers George Riebold and Lawrence Riebold. She was member of the Twin City Church of Christ of Festus, she worked as an Licensed Practical Nurse at Jefferson Memorial Hospital and other area nursing homes before becoming Administrator at Autumn Ridge in Herculaneum, Missouri. Mary Katherine “Kathy” Erickson, age 35, of Festus, Missouri passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Crystal City, Missouri.  She was born October 4, 1977 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of James Richard “Jim” Carrow of Festus and the late Mary Katherine (nee Riebold) Carrow who passed away November 6, 2012. In addition to her father she is survived by her husband Shawn Erickson, sons Dustin and Todd Lucas-Erickson of Festus and Quincy and Schuler Erickson of Bay, Missouri, a brother James R. Carrow and wife Sandy of Festus, sisters Marlo K. Stanger and husband Tim of Festus and Malinda K. Milfelt and husband John of Perryville, Missouri. She was a member of Twin City Church of Christ in Festus, the Community Emergency Response Team in Herculaneum and worked as a registered nurse at Crystal Oaks Care Center in Crystal City. Born on March 27, 1944, in Sturdivant, Missouri to the late Fred and Geneva (Limbaugh) Smith. She is survived by her husband of 46 years: Henry E.Cords Jr of Pevely, MO, sons: Henry Cords III of Pevely, MO and Andrew Cords of Pevely, MO, daughters: Cindy (Steve) Anthonies of Imperial, MO and Elizabeth (Aaron Russell) Dolan of Arnold, MO, grandchildren: Mason, Brooke, Kaitlyn, Stephanie, Courtney, Larissa, Caleb and Jaidyn, brothers: Eddie (Sarah) Smith of Dallas, TX, Danny (Kay) Smith of Hillsboro, MO and Fred Smith of Hillsboro, MO. Violet Irene Rehm, age 97, of Festus, Missouri passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville, Missouri.  She was born March 13, 1915 in McComb, Illinois, the daughter of the late Emma L. (nee Lanham) and James J. Maness.  In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Earl J. Rehm, brothers Ray, Chester and Robert Maness, sisters Madeline Patterson, Winnie Roberts and Helen Hammers. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. She is survived by daughters Tonya Dennis and husband Jeremy of Crystal City, Missouri and Falisa Beffa and husband Tyson of Festus, former husband Gary McCallum of Crystal City, sisters Alice Leubbers and husband Steve of Potosi, Bonnie Tibbs and husband James of Coldwater, Missouri, June Burbank of Potosi, Lisa King of Farmington, Missouri and Margaret Reiss and husband Eddie of Potosi, brothers Rick Coleman and wife Donna of Farmington, Junior Coleman of Potosi and Fred Coleman of Cadet, Missouri, grandchildren Tyler Richardson, Taylor Sloan, Kaiden and Kamryn Beffa and Brianna and Rylee Dennis. Linda C. Scherrer, 58, of Farmington passed away November 11, 2012 at her home.  Mrs. Scherrer was a homemaker.  Born June 19, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois; she was the daughter of Mary E. (Locke) Carter of Illinois. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 33 years, Roger Scherrer of Farmington; seven daughters: Carrie (Randy) Sederstrom of DeSoto, Michelle (Harold) Whitehead of Festus, Gwenn Scherrer of Farmington, Jennifer West of DeSoto, Carolyn (Douglas) Friedmeyer of Farmington, Angelia (Ian) Bernard of Killeen, Texas, and Tiffany (Tim) Novotny of Bonne Terre; three brothers: Gerald (Mary) Hendrix of Illinois, Johnny (Suzie) Hendrix of Illinois and Eugene (Toshia) Hendrix of Arizona, a sister, Mary (Don) Hendrix of DeSoto; an adopted son, Todd Adams of Kansas: her best friend, Mary (Jim) Berra; 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Alexander Brown. Funeral services were scheduled for 11am November 15, 2012 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in DeSoto, officiated by the Rev. Born on February 8, 1931, in Little Falls, New York to the late Louis and Ella (Eckerson) Boehler. She is survived by her son Michael (Kim) Sweeney of Festus, MO, daughters: Colleen (Marty) Long of Bolivar, MO and Laura (the late Charles "Jim") Frye of Festus, MO, 3 grandchildren: Brandon Frye, Carrie (Darryl) Bradley and Brenden Sweeney, 2 great grandchildren: Garret and Gunnar Bradley. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years: Stanley "Bud" Sweeney who passed away in 2007. She was a chief communication supervisor for Jewish Hospital in St Louis. She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church of DeSoto. She was also a  member of the Gateway Arch Bell Club and the American Bell Association. She volunteered at the DeSoto Food Pantry. Memorial service was held on Monday, November 19 at 10:00am at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 202 West Miller, DeSoto, MO with Father James Clark officiating. Interment Peaceful Ridge Cemetery. He was a retired Captain for the Mehlville Fire Protection District.  Prior he was Hillsboro Fire Chief and Dunklin Assistant Fire Chief.  He was involved with numerous organizations;  board member for Joachim-Plattin Ambulance District, Jefferson County 911 Steering Committee, a founding father of Dunklin Fire Department and Sunnen Lake YMCA Fire Department, President of Jefferson County Fire Fighters Association, Founder of Lake Wauwanoka Disaster Committee, member of Knights of Columbus Council #1230, Elks Lodge #1721 and many others. Visitation 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus with funeral mass 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 30, 2012 at Sacred Heart Church in Crystal City, Missouri officiated by Fr. She was a retired U.S. Postal Worker having worked at Hillsboro Post Office for 23 years; also worked at Pittsburg Plate Glass Co., Crystal City, MO and the Cottage Grill, De Soto, MO. Born May 30, 1929 in De Soto, Missouri. She was the Daughter of the late Aaron D. Stroup and Marie O. (DeClue) Page-Stroup-Jacoby. She was also preceded by her First Husband: the late Harold H. “Short” Scott and Second Husband: the late William O. “Bill” Hammond. Leona Joyce Malloy, age 92, of Festus, Missouri passed away Monday, November 26, 2012 at Crystal Oaks Nursing Center in Crystal City, Missouri.  She was born January 7, 1920 in Valles Mines, Missouri the daughter of the late Etta (nee Horn) and Louis Haverstick. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Orville L. Malloy, a sister Gertrude Hubbard, brothers John, Wyman, Curtis, David, Chester and Pete Haverstick and a son-in-law Fred Laiben. She is survived by a son Ronald L. Malloy and wife Sandy, a daughter Joyce M. Laiben, a sister Norma Lee King, grandchildren Ronald A. Laiben and wife Michelle, Tracy McPeters and husband Jamie and Lynn Stanley and husband David, great-grandchildren Brendan and Tanner Laiben, Jamison Oberle, Nick Stanley, Maison Oberle, Katie and Jenna Stanley and Remi and Maclayne McPeters all of Festus, Missouri. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Festus-Crystal City, Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #417 and a sales clerk for Goldman’s, Cunningham’s and later Dustin’s Department Stores in Festus. Visitation 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus, then after 9:00 A.M. with services at 10:00 A.M.
