James F. Arnett, Age: 73, of De Soto, Missouri, passed away May 3, 2013 in De Soto, Missouri. He was a Laborer for The Jones Company. Born May 28, 1939 in De Soto, MO, he was the Son of the  James and Myrtle (nee Sloan) Arnett. He was also preceded in death by his loving companion, the late Judy Drennen. Christopher D. Gorman, Age: 21, of Fredericktown, MO, passed away May 3, 2013 in St. Francois County, MO He was a Cattle Handler at Cureton Livestock Market in Fredericktown, MO. Born July 31, 1991 in Crystal City, MO, he was the Son of Douglas Gorman and Pauline (nee Johnson) Gorman of Fredericktown, MO. David Russell Schwab, age 58, of Cadet, MO entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Festus Manor Nursing Center. Born on August 20, 1954, in Columbus, Ohio. He is survived by his friends: Jackie and Julie Greer of Cadet, MO, Steve Dumbauld of Cadet, MO and Dave and Melinda Williams of Cadet, MO along with a sister: Nancy Owens of Ohio. He served his country during the Vietnam era as a member of the United States Army. He was a Certified Nurses Assistant in the home health care field. He enjoyed playing the guitar and painting. Graveside services with full military honors to be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 1:30pm at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

Elroy "Jawman" Francis Becquette, Jr, age 55, formerly of Crystal City, entered into rest Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at his Pevely residence. He was a parking attendant at Lambert Internationl Airport. Elroy was a member of Mt Olive Missionary Baptist Church; he was a Crystal City High School graduate and had attended Mineral Area College and University of Central Arkansas and was a member of PSI PHI Fraternity. Born June 2, 1957, in Crystal City, to the late Alroy and Shirley (Kinder) Becquette.  Survived by his loving family which includes sons: Victor A. Becquette of Festus and Javen M. Becquette of Ballwin; daughters: Amy (Gene) James of Wichita, KS, Tiara Marshall of Crystal City, Courtney Becquette of Pontiac, MI, Camille Becquette of Pontiac, MI, Cierra Becquette-Hanlon of Hermann and Nola Becquette of Ballwin; brother, Joseph (Jacquelyn) Becquette of Festus; sisters: Erma Becquette of Festus, Jacqueline Bolden of Festus and Brenda Becquette of Festus; and 12 grandchildren. Melvin J. Lowry died following an accident cutting trees on Tuesday, May 7, 2013. He was born on the Lowry Century Farm January 26, 1947 the youngest of six children born to the late John Joseph Lowry and Lola Belle (Green) Lowry. Mel and his wife, Becky Martin Lowry, were married April 18, 1969 and in 2004 moved to a new home on the family farm. She survives. He was a lifetime resident of Hillsboro and a devoted Hillsboro Hawk fan and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1964. In addition he was a 20 year member of the Missouri National Guard and retired from Daimler Chrysler Corp in 2004 after 38 years of employment. After retirement he co-owned STL Firewood, a firewood delivery business with his son, Scott Lowry. He was also a longtime cattle farmer in the Hillsboro area. In his spare time he was a very competitive pinochle and euchre player. He held life membership at AMVETS Post 48, De Soto Elks Lodge 689, and George Sutton VFW Post 1831. He previously served as an alderman in the City of Hillsboro. Surviving with his wife are four children: Barb Bibb, Mapaville; Andrea (Matt) Conley, St. Louis; Dustin M. (Stacey) Lowry, Valles Mines; and Scott (Laura) Lowry, Hillsboro; four sisters: Lillian Sims, Dixon; Doyne Wilson, Festus; Blanche Maness, Old Mines; and Bonnie (George) Thornton, Hillsboro; seven grandchildren, Kaden (Kelsey) Lowry, De Soto; Becca Vonder Haar, Mapaville; Wiley and Samantha Lowry, Valles Mines; Joseph and Zoey Lowry, Hillsboro; and Erika Mayer, Hillsboro; one great-grandchild: Bo Lowry, De Soto; two brothers-in-law, Charles (Vicki) Martin, Hillsboro and Lou (Janelle) Martin, Alpharetta, GA. Many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great-nephews, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his only brother and sister-in-law, Garland and Alice Lowry; brothers-in-law, Tom Mirgain, Mel Sims, Charles Wilson, and Johnnie Maness; two nieces, Cheryl and Terry Lowry; and a nephew, Bill Bourbon. Owned Classy Curl Beauty Salon in De Soto, then after working at the De Soto Shoe Factory for a short time she opened the Hair Stop and Crafty Design in Festus. Born March 26, 1951 in De Soto, MO, she was the daughter of the late Leonard I. and Mary Evelyn (nee Courtois) Warden. She is survived by her Husband: Max E. Joseph Michael Oberle, age 66, entered into rest May 12, 2013 at his Arnold residence. He was a self-employed engineer and had owned the Pipe Rack in the Twin City mall; he was a member of VFW of Arnold and in Special Ops as a sniper in Vietnam. Born December 28, 1946, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to the late Cornelius "Bud" and Frances (McBride) Oberle. Suvived by his family which includes his loving brothers: William Oberle of Richland, IL and Timothy Oberle of Arnold, MO; loving sister, Janice (Chuck) Phegley of St Louis;son, Matthew Oberle of Texas; daughter, Michelle Oberle of Texas; and former spouse, Barbara Baumann of Fenton. Billy "Joe" Worley, age 75, entered into rest Monday, May 13, 2013 at his Hillsboro residence. He had been a truck driver for Middlewest Freight and Fred Weber; he was a U.S. Army veteran, member of Parkton Assembly of God Church, member of North American Hunting Club, National Rifle Association, Teamsters Local 682. Joe enjoyed fixing golf carts and spending time with his grandchildren. Born October 21, 1937, in Davisville, Missouri, to the late Marion Worley and Myrtle (Turnbough) Worley-Casebolt. He had been in retail for K Mart Stores and was a Vietnam Air Force veteran; he was a member of Amvets Post 42 and he enjoyed watching sports. Born April 18, 1943, in Jasper County, Texas, to the late Jack D. and Maxine A. (Stanford) Biggars. He was a barber and owner of Clete's Barber Shop in Maplewood and U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam; he loved Elvis, NASCAR, riding motorcycles, fishing, canning, gardening and traveling. Vernon E. Henson, Sr., Age: 59, of Valle Mines, MO, passed away May 17, 2013 at his residence in Valles Mines, MO. He was a Welder for St. Louis Refrigerator Car and later M.E.I. Railroad. Born December 20, 1953 in St. Louis, MO, he was the Son of the late Lawrence Junior “Larry” and Verla Mae (nee Warncke) Henson. He had served as Pastor at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Fletcher for 4 years, a deacon at Sandy Baptist Church in Hillsboro and he was a professional painter; he was involved in the prison ministry where he was affectionately known as "Huskey Buffalo"; he enjoyed riding his 4-wheeler, running his rabbit dogs, spending time at the beach and he loved people. Born November 5, 1955, in Henderson, North Carolina, to the late Louis Henry and Mildred Garland (Shearin) Parrish. Survived by his loving family which includes his wife of 23 years, Patricia Ann (Jones) Parrish; step-daughter, Pamela Sue Crawford of Tulsa, OK; brothers: Claude Allen Parrish of Kittrell, NC and Louis Cornell (Judy) Parrish of Greenville, NC; sisters: Patricia P. Dale Arthur Johnston, age 76 of Pevely (formerly of Crystal City) entered into rest May 19, 2013 at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr Johnston was a member of Faith Baptist Church and a graduate of the University of Missouri in Rolla. As a Ceramic Engineer he worked in industry in engineering and management. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. Born March 29, 1937, in DeSoto, to the late Fred and Jeannette (Spencer) Johnston. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara (Sims) Johnston; daughter, Jill (Andrew) Orlando of Pevely; granddaughters: Taylor (Jacob) Massa and Morgan Orlando; and great grandson, Luca Massa. He was preceded in death by his son, Grant Sims Johnston, the former mayor of Crystal City and sister, Jean Williams. CPL Devin Joseph Scholl, age 24, of Camp Pendleton, California (formerly of Festus) entered into rest Sunday, May 26, 2013 after an all-terrain vehicle accident in Perry County, Missouri. He was a U.S. Marine trained as a motor transportation operator; he had served in Afghanistan and was due to be discharged next month. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, motorcycles, tractors, traveling, camping, floating, football and spending time with family and friends. Born August 5, 1988, in St Louis, MO, to Gregory Scholl of Fenton, MO and Michelle (Daugherty) Scholl of Crystal City, MO.
